--------------------
* About Maruo editor
--------------------
Maruo editor (Maruo) is a text editor that works on Windows95,
Windows98, WindowsNT (ver 3.51 or later)

--------------
* Installation
--------------
1) After extracting files from "MARUO301.ZIP", put files in some
   temporary folder. Then start the installer "HMSETUP.EXE".

2) All you have to do is simply answer questions given by
   "HMSETUP.EXE".

That's all.

Configurations made during installation can be changed later
on. Even if you are not sure about what to choose, do not worry.
You can come back later and configure again.

"HMSETUP.EXE" remains in the folder that "MARUO.EXE" is installed
even after installation. You can use this program in order to
configure which file type should be associated to "MARUO.EXE".

The following files are in "MARUO" folder.

   README.TXT          This file
   HMSETUP.EXE         Setup program
   MARUO.EXE           Maruo editor program
   MARUO.HLP           Help for Maruo editor
   HIDEMSUB.DLL        Dll for shared data
   HIDEMAC.DLL         Dll for macro
   HIDEMBAR.DLL        Dll for toolbar
   JRE32.DLL Grep library (by Kazuo Yamada)

   HIDEMAC.HLP Help for macros (not yet completed as of 6/16/99)
   DEFAULT.KEY         Standard key assignments
   OLD.KEY             Old style key assignments
   hilight files highlighting configurations for various file
                       types

----------------
* Uninstallation
----------------
If you are on Windows95, Windows98, WindowsNT4.0 or later, open
[Control Panel][Add/Remove Programs] and select "Maruo editor".
Make sure no Maruo is NOT running on memory when you uninstall it.

If you are on WindowsNT 3.51, execute "HMSETUP.EXE" in the folder
to which Maruo is installed and choose "Delete all previous
configurations". After this operation, remove files.

------------------------
* Minimum Configurations
------------------------
We recommend you to do the following before using.

1) Go over "MARUO.HLP" in [Other][help]
2) Choose whatever you like in [Other][Environment]. If you are
   not sure about what to do, just leave them untouched. You can
   configure them later.
3) [Conf for each file type]
   You can use a configuration for each of different file types.
   For instance, you can have 80 characters in "text" files
   while you can have 200 characters in a line in C source
   files. When you want to make a configuration for "*.c", open
   "*.c" file first, then go to [Other][Conf for each file type].
   After choosing "C source file" in the list, you can make
   various setting. Finally press the button <OK>.

--------------------------------------------
* Three switches we recommend you to turn on
--------------------------------------------
1)  <Stay resident> ([Other][Environment][Window][Maruo on memory])
2)  <Fast launch> ([Other][Environment][Window])
3) <Make reopen faster by using temp file>
    ([Other][Environment][Edit])

These will make starting the editor quicker.

---------------------------------
* Associating file types to Maruo
---------------------------------
"HMSETUP.EXE" functions not only as an installer but also as
a program to change the Windows environment related to Maruo.

One of the most important functions of the program is to
associate a set of file types to Maruo. By this, Maruo
can serve you as the default editor in your Windows
environment.

If you have associated "*.txt" to Maruo, then Maruo is automatically
started when you double-click on a text file. Or if you drag
a text file to the print manager, Maruo is automatically started
and prints the document.
