1. WHAT IS CATVIDS?
----------------------------------------

CATVids is a powerful 32-bit Windows application designed to help
you catalog and manage your video collection. CATVids works
perfectly with all types of media, including VHS tapes, DVD and
Laserdiscs. It will keep track of not only your pre-recorded media,
but also movies, television programs and home videos which you
record. CATVids is easy-to-use for the amateur, with sophisticated
features for the professional.

CATVids has a comprehensive set of fields, enabling you to catalog
information like title, format (DVD, Laserdisc, VHS etc.), type of
content (Movie, Television, Home Video etc.), length, release year,
publisher and label, purchase date, price, current value, status
(Own, Want, For sale etc.), production year, studio, rating,
director, writer, cast and characters, synopsis, awards and
nominations, tape counter, recording speed, date recorded, personal
rating, keywords, and more.

CATVids lets you manage both multiple-recording tapes and single
recording/pre-recorded tapes. Specify the length of the tape as well
as the length of your recordings and recording speed, and CATVids
will keep track of remaining space on your tapes at all recording
speeds. Use the Find Tape feature to quickly find a tape to record
on based upon the length and speed of the proposed recording.

You can work with an unlimited number of databases. This means you
can split your collection into different catalogs and organize it
to meet your needs. CATVids allows you to change the name of all
data fields. You can hide the fields you dont want to use. These
fields will disappear from all windows, menus, lists etc. This way
you can customize the database to suit your needs.

You can effectively search the database for information that you
require. Search in all fields with any combination of fields and
operators. In addition, CATVids lets you cross reference up to five
fields. This is an extremely flexible way to search and query data.

The report designer lets you create almost any type of report.
Use one of the more than 100 pre-defined reports, or create your
own reports from scratch. You have full control over data fields,
groups, sort order, columns, fonts, colors, paper size, margins
and print orientation. CATVids lets you preview reports on screen
before printing. Using CATVids you can easily create professionally
looking reports with exactly the layout you want.

With the HTML Generator you can quickly generate documents to be
published on the World Wide Web. The loan module lets you keep track
of videos on loan. Check the program periodically to see what is
still out on loan. You will always know who has what and since when.

The statistics function allows you to analyze your collection in a
variety of ways. CATVids lets you track both initial investment and
the value of your collection. Use the backup function to make backup
copies of your valuable data.

CATVids uses popup menus for quick feature access and navigation.
CATVids comes with a sample database to get you started and a
comprehensive context sensitive on-line help system.
