Welcome to 123 Terminal Server, the only full functional telnet server
available for Windows 95/98!

BETA TESTING

This version is the first beta version of 123 Terminal Server. You can freely
use and distribute this program until it gets expired on January 1, 1999.

INSTALLATION

It can't be easier to install 123 Terminal Server: you don't need to install
at all. Just download the ZIP file (ftp://ftp.midasoft.com/beta/termsvr.zip),
unzip into any directory, run termsvr.exe, then you have got a telnet server
running on your Windows 95/98 machine.

UNINSTALL

That's easy too. Just remove all the file you downloaded and nothing will be
left over in the system.

SERVER CONFIGURATION

The first thing you need to do with 123 Terminal Server, is probably taking
a look at the server configuration. You can set the telnetd port number (you
have to restart the server if you change port number), enable or disable
color support (the response time will be a little bit longer with color
support enabled), and most importantly, you can maintain your user list.

Before a telnet client can access your server, user name and password are
asked. You can use "Server Configuration" dialog to add, remove, and modify
user list.

CLIENT CONFIGURATION

Now you are ready to connect from another machine, probably thru the Internet,
with a telnet client. 123 Terminal Server supports all telnet clients with
standard ANSI terminal emulation.

However, if you want to use full screen applications like MS-DOS editor, you
won't be able to get it work easily with ordinary telnet client. For example,
how do you use ALT-F key to select "File" menu of MS-DOS editor?

Although you can use any telnet client with keymap feature to communicate
with 123 Terminal Server, we recommend you to try KoalaTerm, a full featured
telnet client from Midasoft Co. You can download a 30 day trial version from
ftp://ftp.midasoft.com/mkt/mkt.zip. Just unzip and run mkt.exe. And when you
create a new connection, please use "123svr" template for correct emulation
settings.

There are certain limitation with 123 Terminal Server and KoalaTerm, you can't
use all key combinations available to PC keyboard. We're planning to introduce
a special telnet client so you can have full access to all PC keys and key
combinations.
