******************************

Text Watchdog has been designed to be very easy to use.

NOTE: You can minimize, without closing Watchdog, at any time by
Pressing the "-" button in the upper right hand corner
	of the Watchdog screen.

Sending Encrypted Text
1.	Create a key. This is done by clicking on the button with
the plus symbol next to the KEY: input box. A create key
dialog will prompt you to save your key name. You may create
as many keys as you like. For example; if you are going to
be transmitting secure to Bob, you can name your key "Bobkey".
You can then use this key whenever you send a message to
Bob. For Bob to be able to decrypt your message, he will
also need this key. After the key is created, the directory &
key filename will appear in the KEY: input box. If you have
already created a key, you can browse for it and select it
by pressing the "..." key next to the KEY: input box. Some
recommended ways of sending someone your keys are:

Send them via U.S. Mail (slow, but keeps your key out of
		other people's hands.)
Zip it using Winzip and protect the zip file with a password.
See Winzip's help file for more information.
Attach your key to an e-mail. You only need to send the key
		once. (not recommended)

Note: It is a good idea to make backup copies of your keys.
If you lose them, you cannot recreate them.

2.	Select a mode:

	ICQ (red flower icon)
This mode is exactly the same as e-mail mode,
except that the text is limited to 450 characters
to ensure that it fits into the ICQ message text
box. For ICQ chat, you can use the e-mail mode
if you have a lot of chat text to send. Type
your text in the large text box at the bottom of
		the screen.

	E-Mail (envelope)
This mode allows for large amounts of text. Note:
e-mail file attachments are not encrypted. We will
be adding this in later versions. Type	your text
in the large text box at the bottom of the screen.

	File (disk)
This mode allows you to select a text (*.txt) or
ASCII (*.asc) file. To select a file, click on the
"..." button next to the FILE: input box. (NOTE:
the FILE: input box is not active unless you are in
the file mode). To save your text, click on the
plus symbol button next to the FILE: input box. You
can save the text encrypted or normal.

	Exit (blue door icon)
		This closes Text Watchdog

3.	If you haven't done so already, enter your message in the
text box, or load a file to populate the text box.

4.	Press the Encrypt button. Be patient, the larger the text,
the longer it takes to encrypt. When it is done, the
text box will be filled with scrambled characters.

5.	Press the COPY button. You may use the clear button AFTER
copying to empty the text screen for the next message.

6.	If using:
	ICQ:
Click on the person's name you wish to send a
message to. A blank Message text box will open.
Click inside the box and press the Ctrl key & the
letter V at the same time. The message box will
now be populated with the encrypted text.
In chat mode; do the same thing. This will become
very easy after a few times. You will have to find
way to tell the receiver of the message, what key
		you are using.
	E-Mail:
Open your e-mail program. Click in the message body
section of your e-mail program. Press the Ctrl key
& the letter V at the same time. The message will
be filled with the encrypted text. If you and
the person you are sending to, use more than one key
it may be a good idea to put the key name in the
subject line. Enter the e-mail address and send as
		usual.
	File:
Follow the same instructions for e-mail if you are
going to send the encrypted text to someone. You
can also encrypt a file and send it as an e-mail
		file attachment.

Receiving and decrypting
	ICQ:
When you receive an encrypted message, select the
message text. (Starting with the mouse pointer
over the first letter, press and hold the left
mouse button and drag the mouse pointer down until
all the text is highlighted or in reverse text).
Press the Ctrl key & the letter C at the same time.
Open Watchdog and click the PASTE button. Your
encrypted text will now populate the text box.
	E-Mail:
When you receive an encrypted e-mail message, select
the message text.

	File:
Select and open the file using Watchdog's "..."
button next to the FILE: input box.

2.	Select and open a key using the "..." button next to the
KEY: input box. Make sure you select the same key
that was used to encrypt the text or file.

3.	Press the DECRYPT key. Be patient, the larger the message
the longer it takes to decrypt. When it is finished
you will be able to read your message.

You can save your text by switching to file mode (if you're
not already in file mode) and clicking the "+" button next
	to the FILE: input box.

Troubleshooting

1.	File will not encrypt...
Check to make sure that you have a key loaded.
2.	File will not decrypt...
Check to make sure that you have a key loaded.
3.	Can't enter large amounts of text into text box...
Make sure you're not in ICQ mode.
4.	Can't load text file...
Make sure you're in File mode.
5.	When ENCRYPT is pressed, only some text is encrypted...
This means that the key was corrupted. Reload
your key from a backup file or ask the sender to
		resend the key.
6.	When DECRYPT is pressed, the text seems to re-encrypt...
You are not using the correct key
For any other problems, try closing Watchdog and restarting
it. If problem still exists, e-mail them to
