v1.23.0.1 - released 03/01/99
- Options|Preferences was redone with a few extra options and a clean-up of some existing ones.
- Network now allows you to set the SMTP port if necessary. A new option called signature allows for automatic addition of your predefined signature to any emails you send through Magic Text.
- Favorite Files now displays the system icon beside the file.
- Open/Input Filters was completely redone to make it easier to add/edit or delete open/save filters.
- some code was streamlined to make the program load faster.

v1.22.1.3 - released 12/18/98
- when clicking on Select All, the appropriate Cut, Copy and Delete buttons were not being enabled. That has been fixed.
- bug in registration module not allowing internet access was addressed and fixed.

v1.22.0.2 - released 11/26/98
- automatic backups were not handling files with a longer than 3 letter file extension properly. That was fixed.
- when Magic Text was set as the default notepad, double-clicking on a file with a name that was not in the 8.3 MS Dos format was being converted to the 8.3 format by Windows. It is now being converted to a long file name and displayed properly in Magic Text so it can be saved properly.

v1.22.0.1 - released 11/15/98
- source code was updated to Delphi 4 and program was rewritten to take advantage of features in Win 98, while still maintaining compatibilty with 95 and NT 4.0.
- bitmaps (pictures) were added to the drop down menus.
- advanced networking features were added to Options|Preferences|Network to allow user-defined SMTP ports and network User IDs for those systems that are non-standard.
- Help Files sere updated to reflect latest changes.

- Character|Convert|Title Case was added which capitalizes every word in the selected text, or if no text is selected the complete workspace.
- Character|Convert|tOGGLE cASE was added to allow one to toggle the upper and lower case characters.
- Find Next was fixed to only find the next occurrence of a search word, instead of the two it was finding when pressing F3.
- Search and Search & Replace text highlight colors can now be user-defined.

- About Magic Text now displays meaningful information.
- it is now possible to delete email addresses from the list of email addresses.
- it is now also possible to sort the email address list.
- changes were made to Options|Preferences to make the overhead smaller: new button bar and all graphics come from a central source, minor fixes to the favorite file and open/save filters.
- internally re-written to make Magic Text run faster.
- new Options|Preferences|Display to show edit windows minimized, maximized or normal at start-up.
- change default editor font and background color was moved to Options|Preferences|Display.
- automatic backups were modified. Original file is now backed up, then file is saved under the same name.
- Save As now uses the default extension to save a file. eg. if .txt files are displayed saving a file as temp will place it on the hard drive as temp.txt.
- most recently used list and favorite files list were rewritten to take into account files that no longer exist on your hard drive. Trying to access a file that no longer exists now generates an error message and then updates the menus and registry properly.
- properties screen now shows proper creation and last modified dates.
- font in edit screen status bar was defaulting to something strange. That has been fixed.
- version info was added. Right-click on notepads.exe in Explorer and select properties.
- support emails were not being delivered to us as there was a problem with the mail server Magic Text used to send support emails. We have moved to another mail server and this now works.
- it is now possible to choose whether or not you wish the Most Recently Used or Favorite Files list displayed under File on the Main Menu.
- Magic Text is back in the system tray.
- many spelling errors in Tip of the Day were corrected.
- Status of Insert Key now displays correctly.
- edit screen was not refreshing properly under some obscure circumstances. That was fixed.
- characters from the extended character set can now be inserted into a text file by selecting Character|Special Characters. Characters that are inserted are only displayed if the font allows them to be displayed. eg       - this is ideal for international users who need access to the extended character set.

- spell checker was added to Magic Text. 
- Magic Text now ships with English (US) language dictionary.

- tool bar management has been relegated to each specific screen.
- font information is now properly saved for each edit screen.

- when you now click on Import it allows you to import .rtf (Rich Text Files) into Magic Text and convert them into text files.

v1.15.00 - 12/15/97
- it's now possible to choose large or small button bars, with or without that IExplorer look and feel.
- background color can now be changed to suit your tastes.
- button bars can now be dragged to the top, bottom, left or right of the active workspace.
- small bug that didn't allow Magic Text to be minimized has been fixed. 
- undo feature has been added that undoes your last text edit.
- you can now import a text file into the current workspace at the cursor position.
- problem with automatic backups was solved. Automatic backups are now made in the same directory the file was saved to. (if the automatic backup option is selected).
- files opened load faster (some overhead was turned off).
- it is now possible to send an email directly from within Magic Text. Just load your text file, make your modifications and click on Send Workspace As Email.
- email addresses you have sent mail to are available in a most recently used list, so all you have to do to send another email to the same person is point and click.
- context-sensitive help system was added. Just click on the Help Icon on each page then click on what it is you're needing help on to pop-up a help box with info on that button, label, etc.

v1.14.00 - 09/18/97
- general tune-up which fixed up numerous little bugs that somehow slipped through but you were kind enough to let me know.
- as well this version is to be distributed by many different vendors so the registration system was streamlined within Magic Text.  No matter whom you register Magic Text with you are now getting the latest version.
- all of Magic Text now sports the new look, I forgot the Properties screen in the last release.
 
v1.13.00 - 09/08/97
- new Explorer type interface was added to Magic Text.
- new button bars are now fully user customizable.
- problems with different screen resolutions were addressed. We recommend using small fonts in whatever resolution you prefer.
- a few internal procedures were rewritten to make Magic Text run a little faster as well as keeping the footprint smaller.
- Magic Text now resides in the System Tray.
- doing Search or a Search/Replace on files larger than 64k was causing an error message. That situation has been resolved.
 
v1.12.00 - 08/07/97
- printing problems (all printing was happening left-aligned regardless of the screen display) have been addressed and solved.
- clicking with the mouse on centered or right-aligned text now changes the button and menu display correctly.
 
v1.11.00 - 07/28/97
- Magic Text now runs on both Windows 95 and Windows NT. Problems which were causing Magic Text to crash on international (non-US and Canada) versions of Windows 95 have been addressed.
- Registration problems (wrong Computer ID being generated on certain systems) have also been addressed and solved. The only downside is that all registered users have to be re-registered.
 
v1.10.00 - 06/03/97
- lower left hand corner now shows the cursor position as in LINE:COL.
- Spell checking was removed. This decision was reached after Visual Components released a new version of the spell checker that was NOT backwards compatible. After numerous complaints from users of Magic Text that Magic Text would not run after they had installed other software which contained the updated Spell Check component. 
- some minor internal fixes to make Magic Text a better notepad.
 
v1.09.02 - 05/10/97
- making Magic Text the default Windows notepad was made easier and more secure and solves the problems that 10% of the registered users reported.
- it is now possible to store the names of up to eight favorite files (the ones we are always opening). These are set under Options|Preferences|Favorite Files and accessed under File|Favorite Files.
- Open/save filters input screen (Options|Preferences|Open/Save Filters) was modified so that an unlimited number of filters can be stored and one can choose which open/save filter becomes the default filter.
- Options|Preferences|Date & Time now allows you to choose 8 date and 4 time formats to use when entering the date & time through Edit|Date & Time.
- Character|Convert allows you to change highlighted text to upper or lowercase or to capitalize it. If no text is highlighted the change to upper or lowercase is global.
- name of file currently being edited is now displayed in Win95 status bar.
- Help menu has a new menu item Help|Administration. This has a submenu with five items. 
	- LICENSE which displays the license agreement you agreed to when you first previewed Magic Text.
	- PRICING which displays the price of a single copy of Magic Text as well as quantity pricing for those organizations which wish to install Magic Text on every computer in the office.
	- STATUS which will either tell you if Magic Text is registered, or in the case that you haven't registered it yet, how many days are left in your FREE preview. If you have registered Magic Text, this is also the place where you can order multiple copies for everyone in the office.
	- CHECK VERSION allows you to check (when you're hooked up to the Internet) to see if you have the latest version of Magic Text. If there is a newer version available you can download it through Magic Text.
	- REGISTRATION CODE allows you to make a backup copy of your registration codes, Just In Case.
 
v1.08
- Magic Text now supports drag and drop editing. Just drag a file from File Manager or Explorer and drop it into Magic Text to edit it.
- bug fix - when choosing File|Open if a file was not chosen (Cancel button was clicked) it placed a blank line in the Most Recently Used list. That has been fixed.
- Options|Tools has been renamed Options|Preferences.
- Options|Preferences now allows you to enter the Open/Save filters you wish to use when opening and saving files. The defaults are Text Files (*.txt), Ini Files (*.ini), HTML Files (*.htm) and All Files (*.*).
- Options|Stay On Top was added to allow you to keep Magic Text on top of all other applications on your desktop.
- Help|Whats New was added so that this file is easily accessible from within Magic Text.
- Search|Replace was added to support finding text and replacing it with the text of your choice.
- shortcut keys for Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete and Select All were either added or standardized on both the main menu and the popup menu (right-click on document).

- problem when double-clicking on a text file in Explorer. Directories and filenames with spaces in them were not loading properly. That has been fixed.
- now loads files larger than 32K. However when a file that is larger than 32K is loaded, it can be changed or edited only to the original file size. (if original file is 137,241 you cannot make the file larger; that is even if you delete part of the file you stop typing when the original file size is reached.)
- Right clicking brings up a popup menu. Font... is now enabled. (bug fix)
- new files being saved are now saved with a .TXT extension as the default even if you forget to add the .TXT extension.
- font information (name, size, color, bold, italic, strikeout & underline is now saved when closing Magic Text) and stays as the default font until changed in Character|Font..., clicking on the Font button or right-clicking on the text area and choosing Font... from the popup menu.

- border has been changed to reflect Microsoft standards.
- status bar now displays long file names correctly without cutting them off. 
- most recently used files has been increased to 8.
- most recently used files list has been moved from the end of the Files menu to File|Reopen.
- setting Magic Text as the default Windows notepad has been moved to Options|Default Windows Notepad. The Configure button has been removed from the main button bar.
- Button Hints can now be turned on or off with Options|Button Hints.
- automatic backups can now be enabled or disabled with Options|Automatic Backups.
- main status bar can now be displayed or hidden with Options|Main Status Bar.
- popup menu over open file now has Properties item, which give properties of opened file.
- About Magic Text was removed from Help|About Magic Text and placed on System Menu.
- Border style has been changed for initial Evaluation notice.
- Window|Arrange Icons has been renamed to Windows|Arrange All.
- Tile Windows, Cascade Windows and Arrange All buttons were removed from the main button bar. Too redundant.
- new About Box now gives registration status and free resources.
- found a bug. When saving an open file if the path had changed the file was being saved to the new path not the old location. That has been fixed. Files are now being saved in their proper places.

- Magic Text now uses the Registry to store program information.
- screen position of Magic Text is saved on closing. Magic Text returns to last screen position on startup.
- new Registration module to make registration easier.
- the last 4 most recently used files are now saved and accessible from the File Menu.
- full version is now being distributed only needing a registration code to unlock all of the features.
