How to Install the [MCI] CD Audio Driver for Windows
----------------------------------------------------

The [MCI] CD Audio driver enables your computer to play music 
from compact discs which are in the Compact Disk-Digital 
Audio (CD-DA; Redbook) format.  Installing the [MCI] CD Audio 
driver will to permit you to play music CDs on your computer.


If You Are Using Windows 95/NT
------------------------------

1.  Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.

2.  Double-click the Multimedia control panel.

3.  Click the Advanced tab, and then double click Media 
    Control Devices.

4.  Click CD Audio Device (Media Control), and then click 
    Properties.

    NOTE: This device will only be visible in the list of 
          Media Control Devices if it has already been 
          installed on your system.  If you don't see it 
          there, skip to instruction 10.

5.  Make sure that "Use this Media Control device" is 
    selected.  If not, then click "Use this Media Control 
    device."

6.  Click OK.

7.  Click OK if you receive the following message:

        These changes may not take effect until you restart 
        Windows.

8.  Click OK to close the Multimedia Properties control panel.

9.  Restart Windows, and skip the rest of these instructions.


To install the [MCI] CD Audio driver:

10. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click 
    Control Panel.

11. Double-click Add New Hardware.

12. In the Add New Hardware dialog box, click Next.

13. When the Add New Hardware Wizard asks if you want Windows 
    to search for new hardware, click No.  Click Next.

14. Click Sound, Video And Game Controllers.  Click Next.

15. In the Manufacturers list, choose Microsoft MCI.  In the 
    Models list, click CD Audio Device (Media Control).  
    Click Next.

16. Click Finish to install the driver.

17. Restart Windows.


If You Are Using Windows 3.1 or 3.11
------------------------------------

NOTE: The [MCI] CD Audio Driver, version 3.1, should not be 
      used with any version of Windows other than Windows 
      version 3.1 or 3.11.

1.  In Program Manager, go to the Main group and double-click 
    Control Panel.  Double-click Drivers.

2.  Click Add.

3.  In the List of Drivers, click Unlisted Or Updated Driver 
    and click OK.

4.  In the dialog box where it says, "Insert the disk with 
    the unlisted, updated, or vendor-provided driver in:", 
    enter the drive or directory where the Chord Transcriber 
    installation files can be found.  Click OK.

5.  Make sure [MCI] CD Audio Driver is selected and click OK.  
    The computer should respond with:

        One CDROM drive was detected.  Installation is 
        complete.

6.  Click OK.

7.  Click Close and restart Windows.


After completing the steps listed above, the [MCI] CD Audio 
driver should be installed.
