Family Archive is an easy-to-use application for creating,
editing, and supporting family pictures archive. You can
assign many tags to classify your photos: people on the
pictures, date of photograph, category, comments, and so on.
It is even possible to add voice comments to your photos. You
can easily modify tags and perform fast searches for the items
you need. This is full featured shareware with 30-day trial
period.

0. Introduction
===============

Try our new product Family Archive - personal database utility
to keep yourfamily archive of photographs in order! Every
family has a lot of paper pictures. Do you remember the last
time you tried to find some pictures to show to your friends
or relatives? It was awful, was not it? With our new program
you will forget about that headache!

With our program you will be able to scan you pictures and
photos on paper, or you can load them from disks to put them
into archive. You can assign many tags to classify these
documents: persons on the picture, date of photograph,
category (portrait, family, any you want), comments, etc. You
can even to add voice comment to your photo! You can easily
modify tags, perform fast search for the item you need.

All you have inside you personal archive can be placed into
numerous albums. It makes the classification of your archive
really easy! You can place one picture in more than one album
if you want to. You can show these albums to your friends, or
you can arrange the album for special event. What about the
anniversary of your wedding day?

We worked hard to make our product effective and intuitive
tool. It is fast - we used professional approach, put
everything into databases. This makes item search rally fast.
It is disk space saving - we keep pictures in database
using JPEG compression, so you save 10-20 times of your hard
drive! You can easily search for your favorite picture using
thumbnail view. You can mark persons and places on your
pictures as "hot zone" and add comment to it. Of course, you
can print any of pictures or export it.

This shareware version of Family Archive is for Windows 95/98.

2. Installation
===============

Copy file FA11s.exe to the temporary folder on your computer.
Run this file and follow the instructions. You can uninstall
this product from your computer using item Add/Remove program
from Control Panel.

Warning! Our product uses Borland Database Engine (BDE). If
you have older version of this product installed on you
computer it may be damaged as a result of updating. To avoid
problems you create backup copy of BDE before installation
Family Archive.

3. System requirements
======================

Minimum configuration:

- Pentium compatible 133 MHz PC;
- Windows 95/98;
- 16 Mbytes RAM;
- 640x480 256 color VGA display;
- 6 Mbytes of free space on hard drive.

Recommended configuration:

- Pentium compatible 166 MHz PC;
- Windows 95/98;
- 32 Mbytes RAM;
- 800x600 24-bit display;
- 12 Mbytes of free space on hard drive.

4. How to start
===============

To start using Family Archive run it from start menu created
during the installation. You will see room (main screen) with
several objects in it. Some of them are highlighted when mouse
cursors goes over them. These objects are the buttons for
providing different actions. You can obtain help information
about objects by clicking right mouse button on them. If mouse
pointer will stay over some objects for a while you will also
see hint with its short description.

Here is a list of active objects in main screen:

- 'Archive' inscription on the bottom of drawer;
- 'Exit' inscription on the door;
- Albums pictures on drawer's shelves;
- Book on the table;
- Wastebasket;
- Cat;
- Wall clock.

When you click on 'Archive' inscription you will go to the
Archive processing window. There you can add and delete
pictures in Archive, add tags and comments to pictures, create
'hot zones' over the objects on pictures, etc. The pictures
you have in Archive can be places in Albums.

You can create Albums from main screen by clicking on empty
place of drawer shelves, of by clicking on the book on the
table. Simple dialog asks to define options for the new album.
You can move albums over the shelves, or you can remove them
dragging to the wastebasket. Note, that after this operation
pictures from Album still be in Archive, and you can insert
them into other albums. To open Album click on it, and you
will see album pages with four pictures. You can turn over
pages by clicking on curled page corners. If you click the
picture you will see the screen with one picture.

Here you will see more icons, and you will be able to use more
options. Try thumbnails for fast pictures search, full screen
mode, and slide show! You also will be able to see your 'hot
zones' with attached comments, and listen to the voice
comments.

You can set some options for the program using Options dialog,
which will appear when you click wall clock in the main
screen.

When you bother with our program (we hope it will never
happen) you can exit it by clicking 'Exit' on the door.

We worked hard to make our program attractive and easy to use.

5. Product registration
=======================

Please read the license agreement for complete information.
You are free to use this product for evaluation purpose for
30-day period. After this period you must to register.  The
registration fee for personal use is $24.95 U.S. Registration
can be provided by Internet, e-mail, phone, or fax.
Registration removes nag screen appearing after 30-day
evaluation period and eliminates 50 pictures limit for keeping
in Archive.
