Known limitations and bugs

Power Nailer has several known limitations (so far no known bugs), most of these limitation are caused by limitation in windows itself or the various browsers.
  • You can't create more than 32767 thumbnails per section (directory) in one go, this is a Windows 95 limitation which might be solved in future windows releases, and should not exist in Windows NT (Windows NT functionability was not tested with Power Nailer).
  • Browsers don't accept file names containing certain characters (such as the "#" character). If anyone knows how to link to files that begins with the "#" character, let me know.
  • The scaling routines were not designed to scale up pictures, this means that it is not advisable to use pictures with resolutions that are smaller than the thumbnail size (this might cause a division by zero error).
  • You can not have two files of the same name with a different extension (i.e. "mypic.gif" and "mypic.jpg") in the same picture directory, this will result in only one thumbnail to be created for both images.
  • Power Nailer will not work well when Windows is set to non-standard font sizes (i.e. 120 dpi large fonts).
  • Image resolutions (within the text box) will appear as 0x0 when the external encoder is used.
