GetXR -- Copyright 1997 by Ashley Bass

GetXR simplifies the task of refreshing directories and files
from zipped archives. It saves your unzipped file's name so
you won't have to retype it on each PC and optionally closes
itself or Windows when it's finished. GetXR can also make
portable unzip diskettes, and will even rezip a file that is too
large for a single floppy onto multiple diskettes.

REQUIREMENTS:
-The file 'getxr.exe' should be in a directory that is
read/writable by all PCs using it.
-The file 'pkunzip.exe' must be in the same directory
 as GetXR.exe.
-Source and Destination directories must be specified in
 GetXR's configuration panel(F9). Setting a 'Delete First'
directory is optional (it must exist prior to configuration).
-The file 'pkzip.exe' must be in the same directory as
GetXR.exe if you want to copy zips to A: which are
too large to fit as currently zipped.

USE:
-On startup, GetXR will display all zip files located in the
specified Source directory. Pressing the F9 key will access
the configuration screen so you can specify this directory.
The file listbox is active by default so you can type the
first letter of the archive you wish to retrieve to quickly get
to that area of files. The selected filename will appear in the
edit field located above the file listbox. You can also type a
file name or course number directly in the edit field. The edit
field filename will be written to an ini file so that it will
be the default file the next time GetXR is run. THIS SAVES
YOU HAVING TO FIND/ENTER THE SAME FILE AGAIN.
Pressing Enter or doubleclicking a file in the listbox will
cause the selected file to be unzipped to the Destination
directory. You can override GetXR's destination directory
by rightclicking on the Unzip button. A browse dialog will
appear, enabling you to specify the alternative. Pkunzip
will run behind GetXR. When the unzip process is compete,
GetXR's edit field will turn red. If the edit field doesn't turn
red, you can activate the Pkunzip DOS window to check
 for possible errors.
If a 'Delete First' directory was specified in the configur-
ation panel, that directory will be removed before the unzip
process begins. To clear the 'Delete First' field in the con-
figuration panel you need to select a root directory in the
directory listbox. GetXR will not let you specify a root dir-
ectory or a /windows directory in the 'Delete First' field.

'Doubleclick' will unzip the selected file
'Enter' will unzip the selected file
'shift+Enter' will unzip and close GetXR
'ctrl+shift+Enter' will unzip and Shutdown Windows
'alt+[any above]' will unzip without deleting
                                 the Delete First directory

MAKE A: DISK
This feature will copy PKunzip, abass.bat, and your zip file
to a disk in the A: drive. To unzip on a machine which does
not have GetXR installed you can then just place the disk in
that machine's A: drive and run the "a:abass" batch file.
TO RUN: Type 'a:abass' from Program Manager's File=>Run
              or Win95's Start=>Run dialog boxes.
If your zip file is too large to fit on a diskette GetXR will
unzip it to your C: drive and then zip it to the A: drive using
the PKzip span disk feature. You can then unzip the file
using the instructions above. YOU MUST HAVE PKZIP.EXE
in the same directory as GetXR.exe for this to work.
The 'abass.bat' file will be created in the GetXR.exe
directory the first time you Make A: disk. You can customize
the batch file as you need thereafter. To restore the original,
simply delete the existing copy and Make A: disk again.
