Note: DLSupCX V1.2

  1. Maintenance applied to DLSupCX V1.1. Especially:
     A. Program failure in DP options due to ini file not included in
        zip file.
     B. Allignment of S-By-S dual listings with Delta and Change options.
     C. Incorrect output for changed lines for the Fscl option.
  2. Fscl - Full source listing up to 128 character redefinition. The
output lines do not contain control information tacked to the end
of the output line. All lines are (even matched lines) no longer
     contain the control information.
  3. Dudc - User defined leading comment delimiter and optional embedded
     as comment beginning to EOL.
  4. Unregistered pop-up used. Removed for registered users plus
registered name appears on main menu.
  5. Fixed Chng List Output log consecutive matches "not shown" message.

Program description of DLSupCX V1.1.

DLSupCX is a Win95 directory extended version of DLSuperC. It has 7 new
process preferences --

  1. Full source on changed lines up to 128 columns.
  2. Side-by-side report with insert and delete changes separated into
two split views of the displayed report.
  3. Plus 5 other directory related file classification options that limit
the processing required to handle the diverse file types in a full
     directory.
     a. - Using equal time-stamps/length to limit comparing files that
          appear un-changed.
     b. - Default detection of files for binary classification with an
          option override.
     c. - Limiting certain classification of output in summary sections.

DLSupCX handles comparing two entire directories or file pairs with one
invocation. This enhances the capability of DLSuperC of requiring multiple
user interactions to do the same job. Also, one generalized Dp Option has
been added to allow the user to define a single line leading comment
character with an optional embedded comment delimiter to end-of-line
(ex. "# This is a comment line." Or "Line 1 #Embedded Comment delimiter to
end-of-line"). The requirements for comment filtering is a strong feature
of DLSuperC. This added feature makes the capability to be more useful.

The DLSupCX program features 2 automatic execution options where file
selection is well defined :

  1. Single New/Old Named Files
  2. All Directory Like-Name Files (between the two directories)

Two additional selection panels are available to refine user defined file
processing.

    1. Select from 1 Dir File Like-Name List
    2. Select from 2 Dir File Name List

Information and selections are saved between executions and multiple
executions. An attempt is to minimize user repetition of standard compare
requirements. However, this is short of a batch invocation. User
interaction is still required.

DLSuperC (both 16 and 32 bit versions) is, relatively, simple to use and
deliberately aimed at the single file pair text line processing. DLSupCX is
more advanced and aimed for the complex task of comparing entire file
directories. However, DLSupCX can also do single file pair processing with
compatible DLSuperC end results.

DLSuperC and DLSupCX are separately purchasable shareware download compare
programs. They are separately offered at $29.95. Both are aimed at the text
line compare user. DLSupCBF (DLSuperC for Binary File Directory Compare
- another separate program) is similar to DLSupCX but aimed at comparing
directory files at the binary/file level. DLSupCBF (which should be
slightly faster and produce results expected of a more traditional
directory compare) also projected contains an option
to compare two directories starting at the two top nodes and extending the
compare through multiple directory levels. Delta reports should show which
files and directories are different and/or missing in both traditional and
graphical formats. DLSupCBF is priced at $21.95.

 Previously Announced DLSuperC Program Description

DLSuperC is an exceptional compare program. It features speed, accuracy
(doesn't get lost) and versatility. It handles file sizes greater than 64K
lines even in the 16 bit Window's 3.x version.

Importantly, DLSuperC allows a user to "filter out" or ignore changes
that are temporarily considered as unimportant (e.g., programming language
comments, reformatted lines and text upper/lower case changes). It, also,
detects lines that have moved out of sequence. Need a validation program
that detects changes to vital programs that coders fail to flag as changed?
The program can be used to track changes between versions of source code
and be used to document changes for change board reviews. It is also
helpful in tracking registry changes reflected between two-exported .REG
files.

DLSuperC produces reports that can display the file differences in
several ways - small size (deltas, changes, and control) reports or large
annotated listings. The program has been specially written for execution
under Microsoft Windows and the program's capabilities are more fully
detailed in the accompanied DLSuperC program Help (Overview) file.

DLSuperC is modeled after the IBM main frame "Best of Breed" program
"SuperC". It has been specifically developed to bring the original SuperC's
unique change detection technology to the Windows environment. Variations
of the IBM SuperC program exists for MVS, VM, AS/400, and PC DOS operating
systems. The Win3.x and Win95 versions expand the coverage to these
two additional systems. The last two versions of the compare program are
completely new efforts developed using the published documents for the IBM
program.

The 32-bit version of DLSuperC is a complete rewrite of the 16-bit C++
backend code. It was implemented using Borland's DELPHI 2.0 RAD compiler.
Both the 16-bit and 32-bit versions of DLSuperC appear to produce identical
results.

This is an announcement for the Shareware version of DLSuperC for the 32
bit Windows 95 environment. It is not meant to be free. It is submitted for
your personal use, normally, for a trial period of 30 days. Please use it
and see if you agree that it is the best compare program you have ever used.
Note: The bookie man won't come and get you just for looking or trying.
I've made it easy with only an unregistered notice appearing on top of the
first panel. The whole capability of the program is at your disposal.

The Shareware price is a paltry $29.95 for each copy installed. Site
licenses (in leu of many individually installed copies at one site -- in
excess of 30) may be individually negotiated from the author at a reduced
rate. It is an industry practice that all installed programs have some
documentation attesting to their lawful obtainment. As such, individual
users can request their own registered copy (after sending $29.95) be sent
with the registration notice shown in the output header of the first
displayed panel. Site license notices may be displayed in the program
header and/or separately in a signed license document.

Send through E-mail at SuperC02@mindspring.com or US mail version
requesting (16 or 32 bit) program for registration. Comments on how the
program is used and where it was obtained would be helpful.

Registration clarification update -- 12/08/97: A zip file containing the
registered program can best be sent via E-mail to a designated individual.
The transmitted file may, thereafter, be copied by that individual to
fulfill the number of licenses requested. This is, normally, easier then
supplying separate licensed diskettes.
