WELCOME TO FileNotes Version 3.2 FOR Windows 95
(This version will not run on Windows NT)

Whats New in Version 3.2
1.)	Fixed problems exhibited when coexisting
with other monitoring utilities such as
	anti-virus programs and	system monitor
	programs.

2.)	Increased integration with Windows 95
	Shell. This version adds a
"FileNotes Brief" column to the Windows
Explorer that will display the first
256 characters of an associated note.

3.)	FileNotes adds an interface to Explorer
Style Open/Save As dialogs. Files and
folders with associated notes are tagged
with the FileNotes icon and when selected,
	display the associated note.
The Save As dialog allows you to edit
or add notes when you save a file.

4.)	The FileNotes Configuration Utility allows
you to modify some of the settings for
FileNotes. Including whether or not to
display the FileNotes Monitor icon in the
system tray, whether or not to display
notes in the Windows Explorer and Explorer
	Style dialogs. The configuration utility
also allows you to cancel the automatic
file extensions that some applications add
	when you save a file.

Features and Limitations
------------------------
FileNotes integrates with Windows 95 to
allow you to keep notes about all your
files and folders. You create and access
all your notes through the Windows 95
Explorer. To access and create notes,
simply right click the mouse on any file
or folder. FileNotes can be accessed by
right clicking on any folder or file object
on the system including the desktop and
file open dialog boxes.

The notes that you create will follow
your files and folders whereever you copy
them. When you copy or move a file or
folder, the new files created will have
the same note as the original.

When you use the Windows 95 Explorer to
delete a file, the note will follow the
file to the recycle bin so that if you
restore the file, the note will also be
restored. Unfortunately, this version
will not preserve notes for folders that
are sent to the recycle bin.

FileNotes includes the FileNotes Explorer
that allows you to quickly find, review,
add and update your notes. The FileNotes
Explorer can be accessed from either the
Start | Programs menu or from the Windows
Explorer right click menu.

This version of FileNotes does not support
short file names. This means that when you
move or copy files and folders in a DOS box,
you must use the long file name if you want
your notes to follow your files and folders.
Remember that if your long file name has a
space in it you must put double quotes around
it. Also note that the short and long filenames
are the same for files with names within the 8.3
format.
