Alert window
To use the alert feature, following these steps

Create a profile named ALERT.

Add symbols into it.

Click the Alerts button on the toolbar.

To delete a ticker while in the Alert window, double-click on the tikcer
in the list.
To add a ticker, type in the ticker and press the "Do" button.
To convert a fraction to decimal, type in a fraction, and press the
"Do" button. |
To set alarms for a symbol, following these steps.

Select the symbol by clicking on it.

Enter desired alert setting for it, and click the Apply button.
For example, enter 116 as the High Alarm of Bid price for IBM (shown above),
the alarm will go off when the BID price for IBM is higher than
116, similarly enter 100 or Low Alarm of BID price, the alarm will be triggered
when BID price drops to below 100.

If you are long (or short) on a stock, you can also input your Position
on it, if you are short on it, enter the Position as a negative number.
You can also enter the cost basis (per share price) on the stock, so QuoteJava
can calculate the (unrealized) gain or loss (shown as negative gain).

To clear all the settings, press the Clear button.

Other operations

To stop the realtime alert, click the Stop button, to restart it,
click the Refresh button.

To use WAV sound for alert (sound card required), check the Wav alert
box; The WAV file is alert.wav in QuoteJava installation directory,
you can replace it with your own wav file.

To show quotes in decimals, check the Decimal box.

To show intraday charts, you need to enable chart retrieval by check the
Show Chart checkbox.

To check email periodically, check the Check Email checkbox.

You can choose the realtime server to use, default server is Datek.

You can convert fractions into decimals right in this window, simply enter
the fraction and hit the "Do" button.
When stocks have reached their alert settings, either a beep or a
Wav sound will be produced. The stocks that have generated alerts have
a Bell icon left to their symbol. To see which values caused alert, click
on the symbol, and the alarming values are shown in red. In the screen
shot above, Last High and Volume have both reached alert setting. |
Important notes:
Sometime the default datek server is down, in this case, you can manually
change to a backup server by following these steps:

Find an available backup CLASSIC server's URL by login into DATEK CLASSIC
(with QuoteJava or another browser)

Choose Config->Options menu
-
In the popup dialog box, enter the URL into the Datek Classic URL
entry field.

Click OK.
After this change, you can press to refresh button to go to the new server.
You need to enter user/passwd again.
Please do not change the Datek Form field without instructions.
