Install and Use Newsbin in 10 Easy Steps

1) Run nb32221.exe (or unzip nb32221.zip) and select which directory
you want NewsBin to reside. If you have previously installed NewsBin,
use the same directory. Your old configuration will not be overwritten.

2) If you have previously used NewsBin, go to the directory where you
installed NewsBin and run "convert.exe" This will convert your
signature file from 2.1x format to 2.2x format that includes CRC
checking and other features to make it more robust.

3) Make sure you have a connection to the internet established.

4) Create a shortcut from your desktop for newsbin.exe or run
   newsbin.exe from DOS.

5) If this is the first time running NewsBin, a dialog box asking for
a News Server will be displayed. If you have Microsoft
Explorer configured to access News, NewsBin will automatically use
that News Server. If your news server requires user authentication,
highlight the news server and click on the "Edit" button. Enter your
User ID and Password there. After initial installation, you can add
or change your news server under the "Server" tab.

6) After entering the name or IP address of your News Server for the
first time, the available news groups from your server will
automatically be downloaded. During download, you can scroll through
and select the newsgroups you want but the "search" option will not
be enabled yet. After the initial installation, select the "News Groups"
tab change the news groups from which you want to download.

7) Make sure the "Threads" option is greater than 0. This represents the
number of files that will be simultaneously be downloaded. To
maximize your available bandwidth, we recommend 2 for 28.8, 3 for
ISDN, or all 6 for T1 and Cable Modems. Actual performance depends
on your connection speed and your news server. We have saturated a
T1 with only 3 threads. You can change these settings on the fly.

8) Hit the start button and watch NewsBin fly through newsgroup posts
searching for, downloading, and decoding all file attachments.

9) Point your favorite Web Browser to 127.0.0.1 (your local machine) to
use NewsBin's built in web server to view binaries being downloaded.
Or, use an image viewer (our favorite is CompuPic - www.photodex.com)
and point it to the download directory under your newsbin install
    directory.

10) Use this full featured version of NewsBin for 15 days before it
nags you to death. If you like the product, please follow the
instructions in the "Help" - "About" menu to register NewsBin and remove
the nagware screens. NewsBin is only $19.95.
