1. Late changes and information about the reporting program.

1.1 Mail Support and cc:Mail 7

The reporting program now fully supports MAPI (Message Application Programming
Interface). This allows reports to be sent to anyone you can reach via your
email system.
To use this feature, you must have a MAPI compliant mail system installed on
your computer. Examples include MS Mail, MS Exchange, MS Windows Messaging, MS
Outlook, MS Internet Mail, MS Fax, CompuServe Mail and cc:Mail 7.
Please note that versions of cc:Mail prior to version 7 are not MAPI
compliant and cannot be used by this program.
If you try to send reports using cc:Mail 7 as your MAPI provider, then you
may experience some problems. For example, public mailing lists are not resolved
correctly and the titles of file attachments are sometimes incorrect.
These are known problems with cc:Mail 7 and have been reported to Lotus. For
further information about these problems, new drivers etc., you should visit the
cc:Mail web site at http://www.ccmail.com

1.2 Printing using a HP Deskjet 850c printer in Reporting

If you try to print to a HP Deskjet 850c using HP's own v8.00 printer driver
under Windows 3.1X or Windows 95, the following problem can occur:
The HP printer setup properties dialog box will cause the application to stop
responding when accessed from within the application. (File, Print Setup,
Options or File, Print, Setup, Options). When this print setup dialog is closed,
the underlying dialog appears white and the application stops responding.
To change print settings, access the HP printer setup properties from the
control panel in Windows 3.1X or the printers folder in Windows 95. This is a
known problem with that version of the HP printer driver. For further
information about these problems, new drivers etc., you should visit the Hewlett
Packard web site at http://www.hp.com

2. Notes on installing the reporting program.

From File Manager, Program Manager or Explorer

run a:install

The installation program presents a dialog box with four options:

2.1. Install the product - Complete
2.2. Install the product - Program Only
2.3. Install the product - Data Only
    2.4. Install Individual Files

2.1 Installing the Complete Product.

This option will perform a complete installation of the product. Program files
and data files will be installed.

2.2 Installing the Program Only.

This option will perform a partial installation of the product.
Only the program files will be installed and therefore, any data
files present from previous installations will be preserved.

2.3 Installing the Data Only.

This option will perform a partial installation of the product.
Only the product data files will be installed. This option is most
useful where the product has been installed previously and perhaps
the data files have been deleted or corrupted.

2.4 Installing Individual Files.

The installation program will also install a selection of files from
the files library. Generally this should only be done on specific
instructions from our support staff as in many cases installing a single
file which is part of a group that co-operates may cause the system to
malfunction.

NOTE: At any point in the installation process the user may click the
< Back and Next > buttons to change installation options.

When you decide to install the product completely or program only the
following options are provided.
1 - Select the drive and directory to install the product files to.

2 - Select the directory with the shared data.

This is the directory in which the DOS server or Windows Call
           Charging program stores its data.

This directory may be a network directory or it may be local.
It must be possible for you to create a subdirectory off the
Shared Directory or the installation will not be able to
           proceed.

Three methods of locating the Shared Directory are offered:

Direct input - Type the drive and directory directly into
           the edit box provided.

Browse - Using the Windows Open dialog box you can locate
the file 'rmdos.ini' which is always associated with the
shared data. When you locate the file select it and
           click OK.

Find - This option allows you to search for the data file
above by entering the directory and/or drive where you
wish to start searching from. The install program will
then automatically find the file if it is installed on
           the selected drive.

NOTE: It is essential to successfully determine the shared
           directory.

3 - Select the program group/folder to install the product to.

4 - Select the start up method you require. This option allows you to
specify which way you would like the product to start. You can decide
to have the product run immediately at Windows start up time or not.

5 - A summary dialog is provided to ensure that all the options picked
are correct. Clicking on finish will start the installation.

When you decide to install the product data only the options are the same
as above except that you do not specify the program group/folder to install the
icon to. This icon installation option is only appropriate where the product
executable file is being installed.

When you decide to install individual files, the options provided are the same
as those above except that instead of picking the program group/folder to
install the icon to, you choose the individual files you wish to install. This
is done by selecting the appropriate files from a list box. If you wish to
deselect a file simply click on the file in the list box a second time.

The installation program will then install the files. You will see the progress
of the queue of files being installed. If there is existing local data (e.g.
filter definitions) the installation program will only overwrite it if you
authorise it to. Should you choose not to overwrite the existing data you will
be returned to the appropriate dialog page to enter a different installation
directory. If there are existing 'users' files from a previous installation they
will not be overwritten.

3. Notes on uninstallation of the reporting program

To uninstall the program and data files, you must first locate them. This can
be done by examining the properties of the program icon which will direct you
to the subdirectory where the program is kept.
Later you will delete all files in the subdirectory and all subdirectories
off it (unless you know that other files have been stored there) but before
doing this note that you may require some information from 'rfw.ini' for other
uninstallations.
(Ref. 3.1 Uninstalling shared files)

To uninstall the icons and the program group, use Program Manager or the Start
menu in Windows 95 / NT 4.

If you used the installation program to arrange that the product would start
every time windows does, then you will need to delete the product icon from
the StartUp group for Windows. Again this can be done using Program Manager
or the Start Menu.

3.1 Uninstalling shared files.

ONLY DO THIS if all copies of the program are to be uninstalled. To uninstall
shared files, you must first locate them. They can be found using a line in
the 'rfw.ini' file. In section [Locations] there is a line
'SharedDirectory=', which indicates where the shared directory is located.
Delete the subdirectory '\rm7trans' and all files and subdirectories in it.

Now delete the program files/ subdirectories as mentioned above.
Finally you must delete the file 'copycon.ini' from your Windows directory.

4. Notes on installing the reporting program from a hard drive (Local or
Network)

The files from the two floppy disks can be copied to a directory that you
nominate, separate from any directory created by the installation process.

During the copying of the second disk to a local or network hard drive, you
will be informed that the file 'Readme.txt' already exists and asked if you
wish to overwrite this file. Click 'Yes' in reply to this question. You will
subsequently be asked if you wish to overwrite the file 'Disk.id' (Due to its
pre-existence in the directory you specified). Again click 'Yes' in reply to
this question. Alternatively, click 'Yes to All' in reply to the first question
and both files will be overwritten.

The installation program, install.exe, can then be executed from the directory
where you copied the floppy disks to.

5. Notes on when the reporting program is working with the DOS server product

5.1 External communications program

The reporting program includes an external communications program which can
be installed and used instead of the communications program in the DOS server
program.

To install the communications server:

From File Manager, Program Manager or Explorer

run a:install -s

This install program needs to locate the server's product data file
'rmdos.ini'. During the installation, having provided the path of the
shared directory, the program tests for the existence of 'rmdos.ini'.
If it is not found in this directory the installation will not proceed.

5.2 Behaviour of reporting program relating to Code pages

When the reporting program reads data which was created by the DOS server
program, it must display it using the built in Windows code page. This means
that the characters must be mapped from DOS to Windows.
In the reporting program each character that is taken from DOS which is
in the DOS/OEM code page is translated into the Windows ANSI character set.
The ANSI character set is the default character set which ships with the
US/Western European version of Windows 3.1X, Windows 95 and Window NT. Because
the ANSI character set does not include characters for all the available DOS
code pages, some of the extended characters which can be entered in DOS
might not be correctly displayed under Windows.
The DOS code page can be selected in the national characteristics section
of the DOS product. The following mappings are currently supported:
437 (US) to Windows ANSI, 850 (Multilingual) to Windows ANSI and 865
(Nordic) to Windows ANSI.
To avoid this problem, you are advised to use characters which are
available under Windows. You can check which characters are available by
running the "Character Map" application which ships with Windows. You should
select one of the default True Type Fonts such as "Times New Roman", "Arial"
or the built in font "System". The "Character Map" program is normally
located in the "Accessories" Program Manager group in Windows
3.1X or in the "Accessories" folder under "Programs" in Windows 95 / NT 4
"Start Menu".
