----- Scholar's Aid 3s README.TXT
----- Scholar's Aid only runs on Windows 95 and NT. -----

NEW FEATURES/THINGS/CHANGES IN SA3s

- The biggest change is that SA3s does not use BDE any longer. That
makes SA3s smaller and lighter. See the file size you downloaded.
  (about 1MB[SA3] vs. over 2.5 MB[SA2.5])
That means SA3s takes less system resources.
- SA3s uses a new library database engine that is optimized for
about 5,000 library entries. Therefore, most users who have
less bibliographical entries than 5,000 will enjoy the swift
performance. That does not mean SA3 can handle only 5000 entries.
  SA3 can handle unlimited records!
- SA3s now can do more styles. However, this package includes only
Chicago, APA and MLA styles. If you need other styles,
please contact the author, Doyoung Na (dna@scholarsaid.com).
- SA3s has separate fields (e.g., author, title, etc.) and converts
them into bibliography, reference list, footnote, short footnote,
  and parenthetical reference entries automatically.
- SA3s includes InputAid for easy entering bibliographical data. Just
press the down arrow key to bring it up.
To modify the list, click the InputAid button with a volt image.
- SA3s can handle unlimited number of note records.
- SA3s incorporates DataGuard technology that keeps your data even when
your system is down without saving.
- SA3s uses a super fast search engine that searches all your note data
instantly. You can navigate through the data directly OR collect
them all in a folder at once.
- SA3s includes AutoPaste for easy note entering. Just select the menu
Tools/AutoPaste and try to copy some text into clipboard. AutoPaste
will appear, and you will see what it is.
- SA3s now Supports seven word processors: Word 6.x, Word 7.x, Word97,
Word Pro 97, WordPerfect 6.x, WordPerfect 7.x, and WordPerfect 8.x.
- Use the right mouse button for a faster access to available functions.
- Press F1 key to bring up Help on entering data.
- A lot more.
- SA3s can store and edit graphics (GIF, BMP, JPG, etc.). For more
information on this subject, please see "MoreInfo.RTF" in the
  Scholar's Aid folder.

- Please play with SA3s until you become to know it enough before you
  enter serious data.

HOW TO INSTALL

1. Unzip sa3s.zip into a temporary directory.
2. Run SETUP.EXE
3. Follow the direction.

*** IMPORTANT ***

If you are upgrading from Scholar's Aid 2.5,
do not discard your SA2.5 data even though you have converted all
SA2.5 data to SA3's. It will be a good idea to backup all SA2.5 data
on floppy diskettes before you start using SA3.
READ "Migrating Scholar's Aid 2.5 data to Scholar's Aid 3" in the Help.

*** Tips ***

- Install sa3s in the directory of sa25. That makes it easy to convert
SA25 data files. SA3s will not alter SA25 data files.
- Before you import SA25 library files into SA3s, export library files
to the "Scholar's aid\library" directory from SA25. Then import the
  SA25 exported files using SA3s.
  -- READ "Migrating Scholar's Aid 2.5 data to Scholar's Aid 3" in
     the Help.

  symptoms to the author.

INFORMATION THAT IS NOT IN THE HELP FILE AND MANUAL

Two new options in the Note tab in the Preferences.
   - Max. caption length: When you add a new note, the caption of
the record in the NoteTree window is changed from a number into
a text that is taken from the subject line. You can set the
caption text length in this box.
   - Fill the subject line if it is empty: Check if you want to fill
the subject line with a text that is taken from the first line
of the note body when you add a new note.
