- To use as an application:
- If you are NOT ON A
PROXY SERVER
- Edit the script wzunix in the webzinger directory.
- Replace the JDK with your JDK_HOME path. This is
the path where your java jdk or jre is located.
- From the webzinger directory run ./wzunix
- If you ARE ON A PROXY
SERVER
- Edit the file webzingerunix (which is a script file).
- Replace the JDK with your JDK_HOME path. This is
the path where your java jdk or jre is located.
- Replace the PROXY SERVERS listed with your proxy server
information. This can be collected from your
browser preferences pages or from your system
administrators.
- From the webzinger directory run ./webzingerunix
To use as an applet:
- Open Netscape 4.04 with
the JDK 1.1 patch and go to the webzinger
directory and the file webzingern.html. When Netscape asks
you for permission to run WebZinger, grant it. If you do
not want to keep having to grant permission, push the
remember this buttons instead.
- It is not recommended
that you use Netscape to run WebZinger on
Solaris with less than an Ultra workstation with 128 M of
memory. For slower machines, use the application version.
System Requirements:
- Sparc 20 or Ultra Workstation or higher
- 64 MBytes memory
-JRE (Java Runtime 1.1.5) or JDK1.1.3 or higher, JDK1.1.5 preferred.

Known Issues
Application Known Issues in Version 4.00 for Solaris
* On some systems the Introduction demo page (which shows you
how to do a
recording comes up as a full screen size. It still works, simply push
the desired
button and move on.
* In most corporate network environments the browser is placed in a
central
location. To find the path that you need for your browser when WebZinger
asks you for it, type
"which Netscape" at a command line and use that path for the version.
* Netscape and Hot Java on Solaris will take a bit longer to find web
pages
because they do not remember that the browser is open.
Applet Known Issues in Version 4.00 for Solaris
* It is strongly recommended that the Netscape 4.04 with JDK 1.1 patch
be used.
* It is also strongly recommended that the applet version be used only
on Ultra Workstations or higher
with 128M of RAM.
