-----
1. Create a directory called InCheck and copy incheck.exe to it.
2. Execute the file incheck.exe. This will extract the files to the
InCheck directory. The files you should have are:

    FILE
    checkers.exe
    king.wav
    lose.wav
    move.wav
    win.wav
    ding.wav

3. (option) Create a shortcut to checkers.exe on your desktop for
    easy access.

4. For registration information, execute the game and select the
    Help|About menu option.

5. To play, run the program checkers.exe.

RULES
-----
Internet Checkers implements a complete game of checkers. However,
during development I discovered that most people were unaware that
jumps are NOT optional. The official rule is: If a jump is available,
the player must take it. Internet Checkers implements this rule.

INTERNET PLAY
-------------
Internet Play is fairly straightforward. To play over the Internet,
you and your opponent must decide beforehand who will listen for a
connection (be the server) and who will make the connection (be the
client). The server must tell the client what his/her IP address is
as well as the Port he/she is listening on (the default is 24601).

Internet Checkers will accept all forms of IP addresses and will
perform name resolution if necessary. If your IP address is assigned
dynamically or you do not know it, run checkers.exe and select the
HELP|Get Winsock Info menu option to get your IP address. Then, send
the address via email to the person who will be the connecting to you
(the client).

NOTE: Only the client needs to know the server's IP address. The
server DOES NOT need to know the client's address.

BUGS
----
Internet Checkers has been extensively tested over various conditions.
Unfortunately, I cannot test all environments/setups and bugs may have
crept passed me without being caught.

If you encounter bugs or other difficulties please email me at
smithr@cs.byu.edu. Every attempt at timely and accurate responses will
be made.

RELEASE NOTES
-------------
7-10-98
-------
I finally feel confident with this latest version of Internet
Checkers. With this latest build I redesigned the remote connection
dialog, added some help text, and created "send" and "receive" bitmaps
to designate which of the communication controls is for sending and
which is for receiving.
