INTRODUCTION
======================================================================
Message Parse is a utility that will extract information from email messages either from a MAPI compliant mail reader or from internet POP3 mail boxes. You can define templates that tell Message Parse what you want from the messages and where to store the infomation. Message Parse creates delimited text files from your messages ready to be imported into other applications like spreadsheets, accounting packages and database applications.

======================================================================
How to Install
======================================================================
Message Parse requires either Windows 95 or NT 4.0 or greater as the operating system. Unzip the download file to a temporary directory. From Windows explorer find the application "setup.exe" and double click the file. Once installed you can remove the files from the temporary directory.

NOTE! To use the POP3 capabilities the following software requirements are need.

	Windows NT4.0 - Service Pack 1 and Microsoft TCP/IP stack.
	Windows 95 - Kernal Update (krnlup.exe) and Service Pack 1

This software can be found at the Microsoft Web Site.

Version 1.72  Release Notes

*) We have added a new template wizard, that will step you through the process of creating and defining the most common parts of a msgParse template. Also the wizard handles the auto creation of fields (variables) for a formatted message text. This would be typically a mail response from a web form. With this Wizard you can create templates in just a couple of minutes.

*) We have added the ability to parse information from attachments that are part of the messages. When you define a template to look in attachments, Message Parse will open the attachment and make a search for the defined information. If multiple attachments exist then Message Parse will look in each attachment until it finds a match.

*) If the attachment file is a web page then msgParse will remove the web page code first, before parsing the information requested. This limits the available information to the same information you would see if you were viewing the page in your browser.

*) For performance reasons as well as others, you can exclude certain types of attachments from being parsed. This is done based on the file extension. In the Message Parse directory is a text file "extensions.txt" that can be modified to exclude certain extensions. To modify just add a new line to the file. When installed the file already contains two entry "exe" and "zip". Consequently, attachments with either of these extensions will not be parsed when a template variable is set to attachments.

*) Added the ability to defined case sensitive searches. By default Message Parse searches are not case sensitive.

*) Added the ability to define Whole Word or Phrase matches. This means that Message Parse will attempt to validate that the found strings are not part of another word. \

*) Fix to the problem of output strings not being saved correctly when the length exceeded 255 characters.

THE FUTURE PLANS FOR MESSAGE PARSE
======================================================================
Here we announce the plans that have been made, but have not made it into the application at the time of this release. Of course, the plans could always change based on the needs of the users and we cannot tell you exactly when or even if these plans will be implemented. As a user, you can always influence these plans by letting us know what you would like to see or need from this application.

*) Multiple Line Output:
Currently only one line of output can be defined, and there is a need to be able to define additional lines for headers and that kind of things to make msgParse useable to users that have pre-defined import requirements.

*) Direct Output to Databases:
Delimited files are great for importing but sometimes there is a need for data to be directly inputted to users databases. This would certainly add to the capabilities and functionality for users.
