MinuteMan Data Backup
********************
This a quick instructions on how to run MinuteMan, please
read the Backhelp.hlp for more details.

SELECT and configure Source and Destination paths:
**************************************************
Click the Browse button.
Click Network to browse a Network Drive.
Click Local to browse your computer.
Browse and click the directory (be sure selected yellow folder is in the open position),
or the file to be backup highlighted.
Double click the Source window on the main form to transfer path,
Double click the window that has \*.* to remove or add it,
if you are backing up a file, it has to be left blank.
Do the same with Destination path, since zipping is default in backups
then a backup name is added to the end of the destination path, remove
name and backslash if you deselected backup to be zipped.
You can change that name so far it has the .zip extension, if you change
the source backup but kept destination the same then be sure to rename
the backup otherwise it will mix the two backups together.

Timed Backup:
************
If you are using Timed backup then the Timed
Backup has to be selected from the main form in order
to add the Mode.
Select the Mode desired:
Mon through Sun, backs up only on those days.
Select 1 to backup every day.
Select 2 to backup on Mondays and Thursdays.
Select 3 to backup on Mondays, Wednesday and Friday.
And double click the appropriate window in the main
form under Mode.
Select the backup time, and double click the appropriate
window under Backup Time in the main form.
If you are using Long time Format (e.g. 17:30:03) then the AM/PM
will be blank.
To clear window, double click it when the Browse box is hidden.

Startup Backup:
***************
To do Startup backups, Startup Backup has
to be selected in the main form.
It backs up on Startup if:
The latest backup is older than the Interval time assigned.
Select the Interval hours from the Interval window,
1 to 999 hours (999 is about 40 days), and double click the
appropriate window on the main form under Interval.
All time settings will be ignored.

Once all backups are configured, be sure to double check the Source
and Destination paths selected, then select the Check box under Add
to add the backup to Auto Backup.
Backup will not commence unless the Check box is selected.
Click Exit, if you selected Timed Backup then MinuteChild should popup
automatically, once you open the Main program then BackChild
closes automatically.

If you want backups to be Zipped, then select the Check box
under Zip.
Select from many zip options by clicking the Zip Option
button.
MinuteMan will Zip directories in Network drives as well locally.
MinuteMan uses a state of the art 32 bit compression agent, that
preserves Long File names, directories and subdirectories, into
the universal .zip extensions.

If path Source or destination are configured wrong then Minuteman will
turn these controls of that backup to red color and will not do backup
unless you reconfigure the paths and click the Reset button.

To Restore Zipped backups, click the Restore + button,
click any of the buttons B1 to B14 to transfer backup path then once you are
sure the correct paths are transferred, click the Restore Zipped backup button.

The 14 backups if zipped will be saved into the default names Backup1.zip,
Backup2.zip, Backup3.zip so on......... to Backup14.zip. Be sure to rename
backup names if you changed the source but destination is still the same.
Example: I backed up C:\Mynotes to F:\Backup1.zip, but in few days or weeks
I no longer backup C:\MyNotes but I backup C:\ImpNotes but the destination
is still F:\Backup1.zip, that's when you should rename the Backup1.zip
if old backup still exist in F:\, otherwise the two backups will get mixed together.

To view or extract some files from Zipped files or backups, click Options\View
Zipped backups.

You can zip other data than the scheduled backups, click
Options\Zip and Unzip and Incremental zip..

To do Scheduling:
****************
Select the Check mark Sched 1 through Sched 4.
Works only if you are using Timed backups or Manual backups.
MinuteChild should open to monitor backups due, once you close
MinuteMan.

MinuteMan will log all backup activities to a log file,
click Options\View Log to view log file.
Log file is renamed Logold.txt every seven days or if log file
becomes larger than 50 KB.

NOTE:
*****
Intentional bug, if you select source path to be C:\
for example then backup will not commence unless you remove the
backslash and make it C:
