WEB PAGE: http://www.polarissoftware.com

PackRat Professional 6.1 allows users to access Internet, Intranet and local E-mail
from within PackRat with the click of a button. PackRat Pro uses an existing Dial-up
Networking connection to access POP3 servers on the Internet or an internal Intranet
POP3 server. PackRat Pro supports up to four POP3 server addresses, which allows
the user to check mail at up to four different Internet E-mail addresses. For local
E-mail, PackRat Pro interfaces with Microsoft Exchange or any local mail system that
support MAPI (Microsoft's Messaging Application Programming Interface).

PackRat Pro's E-mail management feature allows the user to write and send E-mail
with attached files from within PackRat. Users can also set times for future message
delivery. PackRat automatically logs all outgoing and incoming messages and logs the
attached documents in the Document manager. In addition, if PackRat recognizes the
sender of an E-mail message as a person in the Phone Book, PackRat automatically
attaches the E-mail message to the sender's Phone Book record.

Organizing E-mail is easy. While some E-mail management programs use file folders to
organize mail, PackRat Pro offers much more flexibility through the use of key words.
The user can add multiple key words to place messages in multiple categories rather
than the single file folder of other programs. In addition, because of PackRat's
automatic attaching ability, creating a complete paper trail of Phone log records,
documents, and E-mail messages is as easy as clicking the Search Attachments or
               History button.

PackRat Professional also offers extensive Rules capabilities by which users can tell
PackRat how to manage their E-mail automatically based on text found in the incoming
message. For example, through Rules a user can tell PackRat to insert a specific key
word into the E-mail message, saving the user the trouble of actively entering the
keyword in each incoming message. Through Rules, a user can set up PackRat to
auto-forward or auto-reply to messages from a certain person or about a certain
subject. Users can also set up rules to play a sound, delete the message, print the
message or notify another application (such as a pager program) based upon
information contained in the incoming message. These rules can be applied
simultaneously, or individual rules can be disabled when one is in or out of town.

               Group E-mail and Distribution Lists

PackRat Professional uses E-mail address information stored in the Phone Book
records. Sending Group E-mail is as easy as typing up one message, searching to
display the list of people to whom you want to send E-mail, and clicking a button.
Creating Distribution Lists is equally simple. PackRat Professional is unique in that when
it sends Group E-mail or E-mail to a Distribution List, it does not display all recipients in
the incoming message. Only the individual recipient's name and address appear. For
example, if a sales representative is E-mailing all his/her clients, the individual clients will
not see the entire list of clients who received the message.

               Text Formatting and Group E-mail

PackRat Professional's new text formatting abilities allow users to send and receive
messages in ASCII, RTF or HTML format. (These formats are available in any Notes
field of any PackRat record.) Users can send mail in any one format or in all formats to
a single user or groups of users. Some mail management programs force users to send a
message in only one format at a time, which can be time-consuming if the user wants to
send group E-mail, but the users all have different abilities for reading text formats.
PackRat Professional allows users to set the formats each recipient can read in the
Phone Book record. So when sending group E-mail, the user types the message once,
and PackRat sends the message in the correct format(s) to each individual user based
upon the setting in the Phone Book records.

               Internet Access

Users can also launch their Internet browsers from within PackRat and embed Web site
addresses in Notes fields of E-mail or any other records.

               PackRat Integration Library

In addition to the new E-mail management, PackRat Professional 6.1 also offers an
enhanced PackRat Integration Library. In addition to interfacing with Microsoft Word 7
and Word 97, PackRat now has a series of macros that allow users to interface with
Corel WordPerfect 7 and 8, Lotus WordPro 97, and Microsoft Excel 97. Users can
access Phone Book records in PackRat and insert names, addresses and phone
numbers from PackRat to create Fax Cover Sheets and mail merge with the word
processing programs. From within the word processing programs and Excel 97, users
can also search to locate files using PackRat's searching abilities, and users can save
and log the documents in the Document manager.

               Enhanced Speed

Due to a new design of PackRat's searching functions, PackRat Professional 6.1 also
features faster searching and displaying capabilities.
