- -

Introduction:
With WinCAB you can create and open Cabinet's. Cabinet files are
compressed packages containing a number of files. The format of a
cabinet file is optimized for maximum compression. Cabinet files
support a number of compression formats, including MSZIP, LZX, or
  uncompressed.
What makes WinCAB different from other Cabinet creating programs?
WinCAB uses Microsoft makecab.exe and extract.exe and therefor
  supports LZX compression.
What is so special about LZX then?
LZX compresses a lot better than the compression algorithms used in
ZIP, ARJ and LHA. For those who know RAR and JAR, their compression
is comparable to Microsoft Cabinets with LZX compression.

Installation:
If you're reading this you probably have allready run setup.exe. After
that you have to copy makecab.exe to the WinCAB directory. You can
download makecab.exe at the Microsoft website (www.microsoft.com).

Updates:
If the third number in the version number increases it indicates a bugfix.
If the second number changes it indicates an added feature or change in the program.
The first number only increases with major changes.
You can go to http://www.luc.ac.be/~9512077/WinCAB/ for updates.

Shareware:
WinCAB is shareware. After a 30-day trial period you should register if you
continu to use WinCAB. Registration costs $10. To find out more about
