Wow Widgets

Each Wow Widget has two parts - a multilayer file (the one with the "hs" in its name) into which you can import an image to replace the Background layer, and a displacement map (the file with "disp" in the name) that you can use with the Distort, Displace filter.

To apply a Wow Widget, open both the multilayer Widget file and an image file to which you want to apply the effect. Activate the Background layer of the Widget file. Then, with the image file active, select all (Ctrl-A) and use the move tool to drag and drop your image into the Widget file, so that it comes in as a Floating Selection above the Background layer; press Ctrl-D to drop the file into the Background layer. Then run the Displace filter on this new Background layer, using the matching disp file.

Note: If your image file is a different size than the Widget file, you'll need to do some work to make the two correspond. See "Working with Widgets" on pages 266-267 of The Photoshop 4 Wow! Book for complete directions.
