Changes in Class Marks from ver 3.2 to ver 4.0

1.	WINDOWS

CLASS MARKS Ver 4.0 is for Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11, and Windows 95 only. It will not run in DOS. Use Class Marks ver 3.2 or lower for DOS.

2.	COMPATIBILITY

	CLASS MARKS ver 4.0 is downwardly compatible with versions 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2. This means that you can start the year using Class Marks for DOS versions 3.2 or lower, then switch to ver 4.0 in the middle of the school year. Ver 4.0 will open your classes created by the previous versions with no problem.

3.	DECIMAL MARKS

Finally, decimal marks are available (one decimal place)! You can toggle between integer and decimal marks at any time. Once you switch, all marks are shown in the chosen format.

4.	DELETE MARK CATEGORY

You can delete a mark category if it has not been used, ie, if there are no marks for that category. Use Marks/Change Mark Category.

5.	ONLINE HELP

Extensive online help is available. The help is context sensitive or general. In any dialog box, click the help button, or press F1 for context sensitive help.

6.	PRINTING

All Windows printers are supported. The printer for Windows is chosen in Control Panel or My Computer - Printers. You do not have to choose a printer specifically for Class Marks.

Within Class Marks you can switch printers using File/Print Setup.

7.	OPTIONS FILE - CMWIN.INI

Ver 4.0 now uses an options file called CMWIN.INI in the program directory. Use Display/Options to make changes.

8.	DIFFERENT OPTIONS FOR DIFFERENT TEACHERS

	Normally, Class Marks reads cmwin.ini from the current directory, usually the directory the program resides in. This gives all users the same options. Some teachers may wish to have their own custom options, eg, their own colors, teacher's name, etc. In these cases it is better to put the cmwin.ini file in their own personal directory, usually a floppy disk (eg drive A) or a subdirectory on a hard drive (eg c:\teachers\smith).

You have to do the following:

Check the Windows configuration file (win.ini in c:\Windows) for the section [Class Marks]. You should see something similar to the following:

	[Class Marks]
	Name=john smith
	Company=riverdale

If you wish to use a floppy disk, then add the following line to the [Class Marks] section of win.ini

	inifilepath=a:\

If you wish to use a subdirectory like c:\smith, then add the following line to the [Class Marks] section of win.ini

	inifilepath=c:\smith

Your win.ini file should look like the following:

	[Class Marks]
	Name=john smith
	Company=riverdale
	inifilepath=a:\

There should only be one [Class Marks] section in win.ini.
