FAT32 for Windows NT
   Introduction
FAT32 is a FAT32 file system driver for Windows NT 4.0. It allows you to read and write
FAT32 drives (created by Windows 95 OSR2) from Windows NT 4.0 just as you do FAT16 or
NTFS drives. Once installed, any FAT32 drives present on your system will be fully
accessible as native Windows NT volumes.
     Operating
   Environment
FAT32 allows you to access your existing FAT32 partitions. It is designed for use in
dual-boot Windows NT systems that share drives with an existing Windows 95 OSR2 (OEM
Service Release 2) or Windows 98 installation.

Please note the following restrictions if you do not use Windows 95 OSR2 or Windows 98 on
                your system:

FAT32 does not provide the ability to create FAT32 drives, or to convert existing
FAT16 or NTFS drives to FAT32 format. You must have a copy of Windows 95/98 or a
utility like Powerquest's PartitionMagic in order to create FAT32 partitions.
FAT32 does not provide drive repair support. You must use a Windows 95 OSR2 or
Windows 98 drive repair tool (e.g. ScanDisk or Norton Disk Doctor) for this operation.

For more information on the FAT32 file system, see Microsoft's The FAT32 File System.
      CHKFAT32
FAT32 includes a version of CHKDSK called CHKFAT32 that will automatically run during NT's
boot sequence and alert you of any drive errors that may have occured due to a crash or
other system failure. CHKFAT32 may also be run from the command line.

CHKFAT32 does not repair errors. When errors are reported you must reboot using Windows
95 OSR2 or Windows 98 (or a Windows 95/98 boot floppy) in order to run ScanDisk or other
                FAT32 drive repair utility.
  Configuration
    Restrictions
Important: Windows NT 4.0 does not support booting from a FAT32 drive, and this driver
does not add this support. Therefore, DO NOT convert your first partition, or your NT boot
partition (the one containing \winnt), to FAT32 if it is currently FAT16 or NTFS. Doing so
                may render your system unbootable.
     Supported
       Systems
FAT32 is available for Windows NT 4.0 only.
