Hi everybody,

Here is the Flex ensemble I announced to this list last week.
I have chosen the name 'Flex' to indicate that the audio-routings in
this ensemble can be configured in multiple ways (like with the
'Komplex' instrument that was sent to this list; more about this below)

The ensemble has two oscillators, whose waveform can be selected.
Optionally they can be synched. They both have their own envelope,
pulse width (if the oscillator is set to 'Sqr'), tune and
fine-tune parameters.
There is 1 4-pole filter, with adjustable output blending of high pass,
band pass and low pass. There is also a pitch envelope, shared by both
oscillators.
The most interesting part of the ensemble are the lfo's. They can
modulate a number of the other parameters like filter frequency
(cutoff), resonance and pulsewidth. In itself this is nothing special,
but in addition the speed and amplitude of the lfo's can be modulated by
two other lfo's (Mod1 and Mod2).
Finally you can add 1 of three effects (Flanger/Chorus, Delay and
Distortion).
All knobs have an info part that tells what it is used for (just
double-click the knob to access this information); knobs that can be
controlled externally have their control number added to the caption
(like Res/2; meaning 'Resonance, controlled by controller 2').

If all lfo's are active, the ensemble uses quite a lot of resources (I
can only have two voices at 20000 Hz on my Pentium 150) so if you don't
need them switch them off. (There is another solution but it's a little
premature to talk about that now; I will come back on it later).

Q: Your Flex ensemble resembles the Komplex instrument sent to this list
last week a lot; how come?

A: Yes, I agree. I guess it must have been 'in the air' so to speak.
Honestly, I did not know that Steffen was working on a similar project
as I. And when you examine the two you will note they are setup
completely differently.
I also think that Steffen's creation is better than mine: it's more
flexible and uses less resources (I don't know why yet; that's something
I'd like to discuss with Steffen).
However, I think my ensemble has its merits too: it has a pitch
envelope and two lfo modulators.
Well whatever. Most important thing is that they both are available and
that you are free to use them as you see fit.

Be sure to try the 'PlanetDog' patch!
