Thank you for your interest in Search and Replace!

To install Search and Replace, follow the instructions below for
your computer platform. You can also download a self-installing
version of Search and Replace shareware from our web site,
http://www.funduc.com. The self-install version will install the
program into the directory of your choice and, depending on your
platform, automatically set up the Start Menu shortcut & Explorer
extensions or a Program Manager item.

Win3x Installation:
-------------------

1 - Unzip the SR.EXE, SR.HLP, README.TXT, & ORDER.TXT into the
subdirectory of your choice. We suggest using
     c:\tools\sr
although any path will do.

2 - Create a Program Manager item to launch SR.EXE if you like.

Win95/NT Installation:
----------------------

1 - Unzip the SR32.EXE, SR.HLP, srext.dll, sr.reg,
README.TXT, & ORDER.TXT into the subdirectory of your choice. We
suggest using
     c:\tools\sr
although any subdirectory will do.

2 - If you would like to enable the Explorer shell extensions you
will need to merge sr.reg into the Windows registry. If you used
c:\tools\sr as the subdirectory in step 1, sr.reg can be merged as
is. To do this, open an Explorer view of c:\tools\sr, right click
on sr.reg, and select "Merge".

If you used another subdirectory or path in step 1, you will need
to edit sr.reg before it can be merged. Open sr.reg with a text
editor such as notepad.exe and adjust all lines containing the
string
     C:\\tools\\sr\\
to the subdirectory you installed the program into. Note that you
must double the \ characters. For example, if you used the
subdirectory d:\funduc\sr you would replace all instances of
C:\\tools\\sr\\ with d:\\funduc\\sr\\. Once you have finished
editing sr.reg, merge it into the registry.

3 - Create a shortcut to launch SR32.EXE if you like.

Win95/NT Users: You might be interested in our freeware utility,
HexView. HexView is a multiple document Hexadecimal viewer that
can display, print, and print preview any file as a hex dump. When
installed into the same directory as Search and Replace, Search and
Replace will automatically use HexView as the context viewer for
binary files. Download HexView from www.funduc.com. It is also
available from several forums on CSI and from the AOL shareware
archive.
