Installing Cristie's Parallel port SCSI Driver for Window 95
------------------------------------------------------------

This installation requires the following files:

\win95\ppio.mpd
\win95\ppio.inf
\win95\readme.txt (this file)

Attach the Cristie Parallel Device to the parallel port of your
computer. You can attach your printer to the printer port of the
Cristie device.

From 'My Computer' folder, select 'Control Panel' and select 'Add New
Hardware' to invoke the 'New Hardware Wizard'.

. Press (Next) in the first screen.

. Select 'No' when asked 'Do you want Windows to search for your
new hardware?' and press (Next). The search would be a time consuming
process, moreover it cannot find any device connected to
the parallel port at this point!.

. In screen 3 select the hardware type as SCSI Controllers and
	  press (Next).

. Insert the Disk in the drive (a:) and press (Have Disk) button.

. Enter the source path as a:\win95 and select (OK).

. Select 'Cristie Parallel Port SCSI Controller' from the Models
	  list box and press (Next).

. Press Next in this screen

. Complete your installation by pressing the (Finish) button.

Slow parallel port support:
---------------------------
Starting from V2.0 of the parallel port drivers, the driver operates
in two distinct modes, mode 0 and mode 1. Mode 0 will be the default
and it is the fastest mode.

For some PCs, the parallel port cannot respond as quickly as
the processor does. In that case operating the driver in mode 1 will
introduce extra delays between transfers and hence increased reliablity.
Obviously this will reduce the data transfer rate. The reduction
in data transfer rate varies with the processor and parallel port
combination. Roughly it will be 15% to 20%.

To toggle between modes, follow the following steps:

Once you have installed the Parallel port driver, invoke the
System Properties property sheet by clicking right mouse button
in the My Computer icon on the desktop.
Choose the Device Manager page.
Expand the 'SCSI controllers' branch. You will find a SCSI adapter
listed as 'Cristie Parallel Port SCSI Adapter'. Double click on
that to open the properties.
Choose the Settings page.

In the Adapter settings edit control enter MODE=1

Press [OK] and one more [OK] in the
Properties dialog. You will be prompted to restart
your machine. Restart now to operate the driver in
	slow mode.

To revert back to the fast mode, change mode to 0.

Always try to run the driver in MODE=0. If your parallel port gives
problems, change to MODE=1.

CAUTION:
--------
The current version of the driver does not allow you to use the
parallel SCSI device and the printer SIMULTANEOUSLY. (The parallel
CD-ROM device can work in parallel with your printing, but it is not
recommended.) Defer all your printing while you are accessing the SCSI
device. It is best to disable your LPTx device in order to
prevent accidental use of the printer when you are using the Parallel
SCSI device. This can be done from the Device Manager page of the system
properties window
