                  PC-BaX Backup and Recovery Software
             *=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=*

Welcome to the Cristie PC-BaX software. This file contains important
final release information.

Application Defaults:
=====================

Backup Script:
--------------
PC-BaX is supplied with a script name SYSTEM which backs up all
the files in the drive C: and the Registry. Additional scripts can be created,
or the default script SYSTEM can be modified to suit your needs. The script
SYSTEM uses the default storage device.

Driver Requirements:
====================
In order to do a backup/restore/compare/verify job to a tape device,
you must have the following:

i)	At least one SCSI adapter installed in your machine, or
	the Cristie Parallel Port Driver is installed and running.

NOTE:
	NT SCSI Manager of PC-BaX can directly access the tape
	device with or without a class driver loaded for the
	tape device.

Virtual Tape Devices:
=====================

A virtual tape device is a disk file which behaves exactly as a
tape device attached to your system. To create a virtual
tape device, use the supplied utility CREATVTD.EXE. It takes two
arguments. The first one is a name to the device and the second one
is the number of blocks in 1024 bytes.

For example the following command will create a virtual tape device
MYDEVICE with capacity of approximately 10 Megabytes:

	CREATVTD MYDEVICE 10000

If you omit the size, the virtual device will not have any size limit.
There are genuine uses for this facility like backing up a hard disk
on to another hard disk.

Backup Scheduler:
=================
PC-BaX backup scheduler is a seamless way to automate your
backup process. The installation program optionally
installs the scheduler service.

NOTE:
	Make sure that you provide the correct user name
	and password during the installation process. The scheduler
	will log on using that user account. PC-BaX will use this account
	by default while trying to make connections to other
	servers and workstations.

	Failing to provide an user name and password will create the
	service in Local System account which may be restrictive while
	doing the backup of other servers and workstations in or outside
	the domain.

Known problems:
===============

If you have Lotus Notes 3.0 running on the machine on which you wish
to install PC-BaX you will need to shutdown Lotus Notes 3.0 before
installing the application.

If you are using an Adaptec 2740 series dual channel SCSI card then
PC-BaX will display two SCSIPORT entries instead of one but there will
not be any operating problems.
