Mailcast : Getting Started
==========================

To set up a Mailcast session, you would begin by setting
by a record for each of your email recipients. Each line
in the Records section (lowerleft panel) is a separate
record. So, lets say you want to add a record for Jane
Doe, who lives in Phoenix, Arizona and has the email
address, jane@doe.com. You would enter the following:

	Jane Doe;jane@doe.com;Phoenix;AZ

Mailcast defaults to using the semicolon(;) to separate
each data field within a record, but you may choose to
use another character, instead, by changing the "Field
Separator" entry in the lowerright panel.

Another section in the lowerright panel is the "Data
Fields" box, which allows Mailcast to intrepret what each
of the data fields mean in your record. In the example
for Jane Doe, above, you could enter the following four
entries in the "Data Fields" box.

	Customer
	Address
	City
	State

The first data field is the name of the "Customer", which
is Jane Doe in the example record. The second field is
her email "Address", which is jane@doecorp.com. The
third field is the "City", Phoenix, and last field is the
"State", Arizona (AZ). The names you assign to each of
data fields is completely up to you. You could have very
easily named the "Customer" field, the "Client" field,
instead. The only reason for naming each data field is
so that Mailcast could identify which field you are
referring to, when you personalize your messages.

The final entry you need to make in the lowerright panel
is the "E-Mail Address" box. Simply select the data
field which identifies the actual email addresses you
wish to have your messages sent to. In Jane's example,
her email address is the second data field, which we have
named "Address", so that should be selected for the
"E-Mail Address" box. Please note that all the email
addresses found in the Records section (lowerleft panel)
should be highlighted once you make your selection.

At this point, you are ready to type up your message.
Once you're done and are ready to send it, just click on
the button with the green arrow at the top of your
Mailcast window. This will iterate through your Records
section and send messages to all the recipents found with
a green light (box) next to their record. You may click
on the green box to turn it into a red light (box), and
vice versa, to control who receives your messages.

Now that you've grasped the basics, you might want to
give Mailcast a try and see what you can do with it.
When you are ready to try out the advanced personalization
features of Mailcast, simply open up the file, sample.mca,
from inside Mailcast, for a quick tutorial. After that,
you should be ready to start 'casting out your newsletters.
Enjoy! If you have any questions, please feel free
