 ERS32pro Ver 6.4 Jan 17, 1998

 Windows 95 and Windows 98
There are two versions of ERS32pro:
 ************************************
 1) If you downloaded the 1.6 MB version then read below for additional
notes, the 1.6 MB one has the VB5run included in the setup.

 2) The 227 KB, has the ERS Setup wizard and doesn't include the
VB5run. First, if you are reinstalling for any reason {updating a previous
version, rebuilding a current installation, etc.}, be sure to select the
"Reinstall" button, not the "Install" button which is for first time
 *******
installations only. Please read the "Reinstall" section found below.

Before ERS32pro will run, you must install the ERS VB5run kit, either
included with this download, or you can download it at
 http://www.mslm.com/ersmore.htm

Note: If you have a command line in the Autoexec.bat to delete Win95
temporary files in the C:\Windows\Temp upon startup then the VB5run
update will not take affect if it prompts you to restart computer because
 the computer DLLs are outdated.

Remove the line from the Autoexec.bat when you are installing programs
 that requires a reboot.

Note: If while installing you get the message"Unable to find Choice.com",
this is an important file to have, download at:
 http://www.mslm.com/ersmore.htm

Now unzip and place ERS into a temporary folder, double click Setup.exe,
and select the desired drive and path. Then click on the "Install"
button. (Click Reinstall if you are installing an update).

ERS does not make any modifications or entries to the W95 Registry,
nor to any Win95 System files files. It will simply make the new ERS
directories it other system requires, and copy the necessary ERS
files into the appropriate directories, while adding an ERS Shortcut to
 the Start menu.

Version 6.0 and above installs in any path and drive you select, previous
versions were limited to 8 letter path.

The ERS setup wizard will make one main Ers32pro folder, and one other

separate folder called "1Ers" in the root directory of your hard drive C:\

If you have problems installing ERS, that may happen because you
don't have some of the system files up to date, download and install
the ERS VB5run update from, or you may need to reinstall the
 VB5run twice.
 http://www.mslm.com/ersmore.htm

The 1ERS folder is placed in the boot drive C:\, where the restoration
batch files will get created once you do backups.

(NOTE: DO NOT..execute these batch files from within Windows.) You
can however, right click them, and select Edit if you are curious. But
please DO NOT make any changes unless you know what you are doing.

ERS.bat will be found in the "C:\ "directory, you can double click this
specific .bat file with no resulting problem because all it contains is
data information about your backup dates, reminder on the restorations
command and your added notes to the backup. It contains no executable

commands, so feel free to get familiarized with it.
ERS.bat gets re-created every time you close ERS.

If restoring from backup Just type ERS OR ERS.bat at the Command
Prompt and it will automatically change directory to the 1ers folder.

 NOTE:
 In certain rare instances {MS-DOS may not recognize only "ERS"}
you may need to type the complete ERS.bat file name.

Although it does not overwrite any existing files, ERS Setup Wizard
will copy Attrib.exe from the Windows\Command directory, to the root

directory of C:\, and the self registering Stkit432.dll, to the
 C:\Windows\System directory.

 REINSTALL
 *********

Is a feature only available with the 227 KB download and has the ERS
 Setup Wizard, recommended for reinstallation.
WARNING: When reinstalling, don't delete the previous {older} Ers32pro
directory, nor the ERS.exe. Merely selecting the "Reinstall" command,
will update and replace all files and recreate any missing folders, while
keeping your previous {old} backups safely intact.

When reinstalling select the "Reinstall" button if you are reinstalling to
a previous installation. Do the same if you are installing an rebuild
updated version. Take care to see that the correct path to the previous
installation is shown in the path dialog.

NOTE: IF you have ERS32pro versions before August 3, 1997, it will
 be necessary to delete the following files;

 ers.dat
 ers1.dat
 ers2.dat
 profile1.dat

Also delete all backups in the "Profiles" folder, because I changed the

 configurations on those .dat files.

 Delete Notes1.rtf through notes6.rtf in C:\ERS32pro\Ersfiles, the 6 RTF
files are now backed up in the "Notes Backup1" and "Notes Backup2"
 folders.

Delete Reg.dat in the Ers32pro directory if you get errors running ERS,
you need to enter the registration name again.

 UNINSTALL:
 *********

WARNING: DO NOT... use any third party software to UNINSTALL
 any version of ERS.

To remove {uninstall} ERS correctly, simply delete the entire Ers32pro

directory. And if they exist, delete the shortcuts found in
 C:\Windows\Startmenu\Programs, the Sched3d.lnk or Sched7d.lnk in
 C:\Windows\Startmenu\Programs\Startup

Also delete ERS.bat and the 1ERS folder from the root directory C:\.
There are no ERS registry entries to remove.
There is uninstall program available at
  http://www.mslm.com/ersmore.htm
 if you rather do that.

I suggest you keep the VB5run update file because it will work with
other VB 5.0 applications that call for it. But if for some reason you

need to remove it, go to the Control Panel\Add Remove Programs
and uninstall the ERS VB5run update.

 ************************************
If you downloaded the 1.6 MB version

 INSTALLATION
 ************

The only difference is, Visual Basic setup wizard used instead of the
 ERS Setup wizard.
Read above for general information about ERS.
Visual Basic Setup wizard in most cases doesn't allow reinstall so
use the ERS setup wizard for reinstallation.

 TO REINSTALL:
 ************

Read the above Reinstall section and use the ERS Setup Wizard.
Download the 190 KB version from http://www.mslm.com/ers.htm

 which has the Reinstall feature.

 UNINSTALLING:
 *************

To Un-install, go to the Control Panel \ Add Remove Programs, scroll
down to ERS32pro and click uninstall, if for any reason it will not install
then delete the Ers32pro directory, 1ers folder and the Ers.bat in C also
delete the shortcut to the Start Menu, and if you have added Auto backup
to startup then delete Sched3d.lnk or Scehed7d.lnk.
You will not get any error messages after you do that.
I suggest to follow the uninstallation described above as for the ERS setup

 wizard.
Again don't use third party uninstall software to uninstall any versions of
 ERS.

 Windows 98:
 **********

If you are installing Windows 98 on top of Windows 95 then, before going
any further, click Options\Update ERS for Win98. That will replace old Win95
MS-DOS files in the 1Ers folder with the new Win98 MS-DOS files.
Then delete all backups made in Win95.
If you think that you want to go back to Win95(doubt it), save couple Win95
backups, be sure to note it, use the ERS Boot disk to restore.

If accidently restored from Win95 backup, just re restore from Win98 backup.
If you are installing ERS32pro on top of Windows 98 then you are ready to go.
 Read the Win98 restore section.

Where Win95 is mentioned it applies to Win98 too.
