A phase consists of a group of related tasks, such as buying cement, renting the cement mixer, and pouring the concrete. A phase represents a major step in the project. Breaking a project into phases enables you to focus on one aspect of the project at a time, see the logical flow of tasks in the project, determine whether any tasks are missing from that phase, and report project status at the right level of detail to others.
