NovaStation MIDI Software Wavetable Synthesizer S-YG20 (v2.10)

Thank you for your interest in Innovative Trek Technology Pte Ltd (I.T.T.) products.
The NovaStation Midi Software Synthesizer (hereafter referred to as the NovaStation) is a software-
type MIDI player that uses the S-YG20 Soft Synthesizer to utilize the CPU power of a personal
computer (PC) to produce sound. In the same way as an external MIDI tone generator, MIDI playback
applications such as the following can be used with the S-YG20 to produce high-
quality sound.

- The NovaStation MIDI player included with the S-YG20 Soft Synthesizer engine
- The MediaPlayer included with Windows 95(R)
- Sample XG Midi song files

Please try out the NovaStation 2.10 (Normal mode) and enjoy playing back various MIDI files.

<About the S-YG20>

The S-YG20 provides 360 sounds which include 128 GM-compatible sounds, 9 drum
kits + 2 SFX kits, and also reverb, covering not only the conventional GM sounds,
but also sounds unique to the XG format(some substitute sounds are included).
To modify the sound quality settings, click the SGMP Driver icon in the
Control Panel to start up the setting window, and specify the output sampling rate,
the stereo/mono setting, and reverb on/off. As far as the CPU loading will permit,
we suggest that you listen with settings of 22 K, stereo, and reverb turned on.
If this places too heavy a load on the CPU and notes are interrupted during
playback, try turning off the reverb, or setting the sampling rate to 11 K.

<S-YG20 specifications>

Features of the Soft Synthesizer driver
- 32 note polyphonic GM-compatible tone generator (with reverb)
- Any Windows computer with a sound CODEC can function as a GM tone generator

Soft synthesizer driver specifications
Reverb functionality has been added to GM System Level 1 and priority can be placed
either on sound quality or on speed.

Tone generator specifications
- Tone generation method: PCM / wavetable
- Maximum simultaneous polyphony: 32 notes (dependent on system performance)
- Number of sounds: 360 sounds + 9 drum kits + 2 SFX kits

Effect section specifications
- Effect types: Reverb

MIDI input driver specifications
- Supported MIDI messages: GM System Level 1

* Notes will be sounded on the Soft Synthesizer with a delay of approximately 0.5
seconds after the MIDI messages are received. For this reason, a delay will occur
when the NovaStation is played by an external MIDI device (such as a MIDI keyboard).
* The NovaStation cannot be used in DOS or in a DOS box.
* While the Soft Synthesizer is being used, the MIDI playback volume is controlled
by the WAVE setting of the mixer.
* While the Soft Synthesizer is being used, it is not possible to run two or more
MIDI applications. This is due to Midi port sharing like most other applications.

<Troubleshooting>

Can't install
- Do you have the required hardware (hard disk, memory, etc.)?
- Do you have the required software (MS-DOS, Windows, etc.)?
- Installation may not be possible if your hard disk has insufficient free space.
Delete unneeded files to increase the amount of free space.

Will not start up
- Do you have the required hardware (hard disk, memory, etc.)?
- Do you have the required software (MS-DOS, Windows, etc.)?
- Was the program installed using the correct procedure?

No sound
- Check the settings within Multimedia. Is the MIDI setting set to SGMP Driver?
- The S-YG20 cannot playback on an 8-bit sound card as it is designed for 16-bit quality
  cards.
- If you are using MWave based sound, do not use this NovaStation software.

MIDI-compatible games do not produce sound
- The NovaStation cannot be used on DOS or in a DOS box. Window 95-compatible games
which use MIDI are supported.

Since the Soft Synthesizer uses some of the resources of the
computer, please be aware that, due to the combination of the CPU and memory in
your computer, or due to other applications which are running concurrently, there
may be cases in which processing cannot be performed on time, causing notes to be
interrupted. This is mainly due to the heavy use of some Windows applications on CPU
and memory resources.
