Operating Instructions for ActionPlayer

When ActionPlayer starts up for the first time, it will display an about
box, with an option for you to register. The about box can be accessed
at any time later on.
Clicking the small button left of my url will launch your web brower.
Clicking the small button left of my email address will launch your
email program.
Upon closing the about box you'll see the main window and a playback window.

Tray Icon mode
Upon minimizing ActionPlayer, an icon will appear in the system tray.
Left-clicking the icon is the same as pressing the "Next" button.
It will play the next file. Right-clicking the icon will bring up a menu.
Hovering over the icon will display the name of current track.
The tray menu offers appearance options and playback functions. This enables
you to continue controlling playback even while ActionPlayer is minimized.
The menu items are:
- Close ActionPlayer: This will close the program.
- Restore: This will restore the normal window.
- Show Playback Window: This toggles the visibility of the playback window.
- Track Selector: This duplicates the function of the Track selector
on the main window.
- Play: Start playback.
- Pause: Pause playback.
- Stop: Stop playback.
- Home: Rewind to beginning.
- Next: Play the next file.
Pop up the track selector and you can directly select the track you
want to play.
Playlist Editor
On running ActionPlayer the first time, you will notice there are no
tracks to play. Press the
button, or simply drag and drop files and directories onto the main window.
This will pop up the playlist editor. Drag and drop additional files and
directories and it will build a list for you.
Please be cautious when dragging large directories, since the editor will scan
all the subdirectories. Duplicates will be automatically rejected.
'del' key or "delete" button will delete the selected tracks.
Multiple-selection delete is possible.
Dictionary Editor
Well, having a whole bunch of files to play around is nice and fine,
but I don't particularly like looking at filenames such as
g:\abbey_road\here_comes_the_sun.wav. So a convertion method is in order.
Press the
button to use the dictionary editor.
Dragging files into the dictionary editor will generate a list of files for
conversion mapping. This will let you edit its filename vs. friendly name.
As with the Playlist Editor, duplicate filenames will be automatically rejected.
The editor is CJK code compatible. To change an entry, simply double click or
press the space key on an item.
Pressing 'del' key or "delete" button will delete the selected entry.
Only single-selection delete is possible.
Note that the conversion is totally optional,
if ActionPlayer cannot find a dictionary entry for the file it will simply
use the filename for display.
This should be sufficient to get you up and running. Enjoy!
