LICENSE, REGISTRATION AND SUPPORT
=================================
QuickColor is shareware. You must read and accept the terms
detailed in the license.txt file before you can use QuickColor.
An order form is provided in the file order.txt for the purpose of
registering this software.

Registered versions of QuickColor do not display the "About QuickColor"
dialog box on start-up, and do not, of course, have an evaluation time
limit.

QuickColor support is available from EnTech Taiwan via Internet
e-mail addressed to support@entechtaiwan.com. Program updates are made
available over the Internet at http://www.entechtaiwan.com.
Registration keys which are issued apply to all future releases of
QuickColor.

QUICKCOLOR DESCRIPTION
======================
QuickColor is a desktop enhancement and display control utility,
specifically optimized for use with current and future 32-bit versions
of Microsoft Windows. QuickColor works in conjunction with your
display driver, supporting on-the-fly color depth, resolution, and
- depending on your display driver - refresh rate switching, user-defined
presets, program/shortcut associations, an optional toolbar, graphics
system information, screen saving, cursor controls, and extensive
monitor support. A full description of QuickColor features can be found
in the online documentation.

INSTALLING AND CONFIGURING QUICKCOLOR
=========================================
To install QuickColor, you must have a PC running Microsoft Memphis,
Windows NT or Windows 95. These instructions assume that you have
already successfully installed the very latest display drivers provided
by your graphics card manufacturer or by Microsoft with DirectX (for
Windows 95) or NT SP3.

To install QuickColor software, carry out the following steps:

1. Run the supplied Setup program or right-click the qcolor95.inf file
   (for Windows 95/98) or the qcolorNT.inf file (for Windows NT) using
   the Windows Explorer, and then click Install.
2. Restart your computer.
3. Double-click the QuickColor icon on the system tray, or select
   QuickColor configuration... from the QuickColor popup menu or
   toolbar.
4. Select color depth, resolution and refresh rate combinations of
   your choice and drag-and-drop on Preset button to save setting,
   or on monitor image to preview setting.

To remove QuickColor from your computer, select the Add/Remove
option from the Control Panel, and select "QuickColor (remove only)"
from the list.

UPGRADING QUICKCOLOR
========================
When you upgrade QuickColor from an older version, all your presets
and associations are preserved, but custom monitor information and
refresh rates will be lost. This is a deliberate safety precaution.

NOTES ON SPECIFIC CHIPSETS UNDER WINDOWS 95
===========================================
ATI - QuickColor refresh rate support will not work with ATI cards under
Windows 95/98 unless you are using a Microsoft driver.

Matrox MGAs - QuickColor refresh rate support will not work with
MGA cards under Windows 95/98 unless you (1) configure the Matrox
PowerDesk to use a native Windows monitor, or (2) use a Microsoft driver.
Under NT, if you select a Matrox monitor using the PowerDesk, your
refresh rates will be limited to the ones you define using the PowerDesk.

Cirrus Logic - If QuickColor is unable to change the refresh rate
and a Cirrus Monitor Refresh property sheet is available, ensure
that the "Auto Detect Use DDC" or "Adapter default" option is checked.
(This is especially important with the new Laguna/3D series of chipsets
and drivers.)

3Dlabs - If QuickColor is unable to reach refresh rates above 75 or
85Hz, ensure that the refresh rate property under the Permedia
device configuration setting box or 3Dlabs Setup property sheet
is set to "Max".

Ark Logic - Ark Logic drivers which attempt to implement a
"virtual desktop" are neither certified by Microsoft for use with
Windows 95 nor compatible with QuickColor.

If QuickColor is able to change the refresh rate under Windows 95,
but you find the range of refresh rate options is inaccurate or
incomplete, feel free to open and edit the [Generic] section of
the supplied QCOLOR.DAT file. In addition to monitor definitions, this
simple ASCII text file contains commented-out samples of refresh rate
settings for Windows 95 which QuickColor will read in the absence (and
only in the absence) of Windows system registry information on refresh
rates.

KNOWN LIMITATIONS
=================

Icon Corruption after Changing Color Depth On-the-fly
-----------------------------------------------------
Under Windows 95 it is possible that icons (even QuickColor icons)
may appear incorrect or corrupted after switching color depth
dynamically.

Multi-language Support
----------------------
Some of the translated text strings are either too long or less than
accurate. If you encounter a translation error and/or can suggest a
more acurate or abbreviated translation, we would appreciate your
input. Naturally, we apologize in advance for any translations that
are inaccurate.

UnInstall under Windows 98
--------------------------
Although QuickColor files are un-installed, shell links and registry
entries are not removed. This will be fixed for the retail release of
Windows 98.
