INSTALL TROUBLESHOOTING
=======================

"Comctl32.dll Upgrade Required" Dialog Box
------------------------------------------

You may see this dialog box if you are using the basic version of Windows 95,
and had not yet upgraded to never version of Comctl32.dll. Users of Windows
NT 4.0 or newer should not have this problem since all versions of Windows NT
are shipping with updated Comctl32.dll file.

Where Is It? needs to have version of Comctl32.dll to be at least 4.70.xxxx in
order to run properly. Windows OSR2, MS Internet Explorer 3.0 and newer, and
some other Microsoft's programs are shipping with newer version of this file,
and chances are you already have the required version installed on your system.
If you don't, you will have to make an upgrade before installing Where Is It?
on your computer.

Installing never version of Comctl32.dll could easily be done automatically,
inside install program, but unfortunately this would be in violation of
Microsoft's Distribution License for this library. Because of that, upgrading
and installing WhereIsIt? is a two-step process for all users with old version
of Comctl32.dll installed. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but you can blame
it on Microsoft.

Enclosed in Where Is It? distribution package is a COM32UPG.EXE file, otherwise
freely available from Microsoft's FTP site. This is an original Microsoft's
upgrade file that will replace your Comctl32.dll library with the required
version (if your version is already newer, running this patch will have no
effect on your system).

If Where Is It?'s setup program has informed you that Comctl32.dll upgrade is
required, run the COM32UPG.EXE file to apply the upgrade, and restart your
computer for changes to take effect. Until the appropriate Comctl32.dll file
is in place, you will not be able to install Where Is It?. After system has
successfuly rebooted, you can start the Where Is It? installation again to
install the program.
