                    ----------------------------------

                     Version 3.03, November 1997

SWEEP for Windows 95 has been updated with new virus information. A list of
new viruses is now included in the SWEEP for DOS release notes.

Sophos Anti-Virus on CD
-----------------------

From 2nd March 1998 Sophos Anti-Virus updates for all platforms will be
delivered on CD. The CD will also contain all manuals, an electronic copy of
the Data Security Reference Guide as well as floppy disk images which will
allow easy creation of floppy disks (should you require them).

All software will still be available on floppy disks, but if you wish to
receive floppy disks instead of the CD, you must let us know before 9th
February 1998.

                        Version 3.02, October 1997

SWEEP for Windows 95 has been updated with new virus information. A list of
new viruses is now included in the SWEEP for DOS release notes.

Central Installations on Windows NT
-----------------------------------

SWEEP for Windows 95 can now be installed centrally on Windows NT computers.
When selecting the server and communications folder, a share name which is
visible from the client computers must be entered. If an unsuitable path is
entered, the setup application will display a list of suitable share names
from which a selection can be made.

                    ----------------------------------

                       Version 3.01a, September 1997

SWEEP for Windows 95 has been updated with new virus information. A list of
new viruses is now included in the SWEEP for DOS release notes.

Automatic installation
----------------------

SWEEP for Windows 95 now supports automatic installation, which simplifies
the task of initial deployment. This feature is enabled by executing the
central installation application from within a login script, using the -INL
and -A command line qualifiers.

For example:

   \\SERVER\INTERCHK\W95INST\SETUP -INL -A

This will place a new installation on the local workstation in a folder
called "Sophos SWEEP", within the Windows 95 program folder. The method of
installation, i.e. interactive or non-interactive, will be determined by the
central configuration. If there is an existing installation of SWEEP for
Windows 95 no action will be taken.

Login scripts should place the call to SETUP before any call to ICLOGIN. This
ensures that stand-alone InterCheck takes precedence over networked
InterCheck.

                    ----------------------------------

                         Version 3.00, August 1997

SWEEP for Windows 95 has been updated with new virus information. A list of
new viruses is now included in the SWEEP for DOS release notes.

Excel file disinfection
-----------------------

SWEEP for Windows 95 now supports detection and disinfection of Excel (VBA3)
macro viruses.

Template or document?
---------------------

Microsoft Word documents (as opposed to templates) cannot cause a macro virus
infection when they are opened. Prior to version 3.00 SWEEP did not report
such documents as viruses, even if they incorporated viral macros (since they
were not infectious). Since this proved to be confusing to some users, SWEEP
now ignores the setting of the so-called 'template bit' in Word files by
default and reports the presence of virus macros in documents as well as
templates.

See the SWEEP for DOS release notes for details on how to test whether a Word
object is really infectious or not.

Non-interactive automatic upgrades
----------------------------------

During a central installation administrators can now choose to allow
non-interactive upgrades. When this feature is enabled an automatic upgrade
will update a local workstation installation of SWEEP for Windows 95 without
any user interaction. A dialog is displayed to inform the user that an
upgrade is in progress.

An administrator can also choose to prevent the local user from postponing
an upgrade. When this feature is enabled an automatic upgrade will start
without asking the user if they wish to proceed. This feature only becomes
active after a workstation has been upgraded to version 3.00. Previous
versions of SWEEP for Windows 95 will always ask the user if they wish to
upgrade.

By default SWEEP for Windows 95 version 3.00 is installed so that it behaves
in exactly the same manner as previous versions.
