PC DRUMMER Version 3.0
Copyright (C) 1993-97 by Paul E. Orszula
Released 8/24/97

PC DRUMMER is a drum machine program for computers with a
sound card and running Windows 95. It combines presampled
digitized percussion sounds into patterns of various musical
styles. You can also create your own patterns and configure
individual instrument volume and stereo positioning. No MIDI or
other hookups are required, but home stereo amplification provides
maximum effect.

You don't need to be a drummer to use it, but it helps to
know a few basic drumming concepts; measures, beats, rhythms, and
fills. Here goes. A song is divided into equal length musical
units called MEASURES. Here, every measure is divided into 4
BEATS. When you select a PATTERN you are selecting a repeating
measure long pattern of drum hits. PATTERNS are arranged to make
a SONG.

When you run the program you will first see an intro screen
and you should hear a continuous drum pattern. Press the begin
button for the main screen.

The key sections on main screen are the song, pattern library
and pattern editing box. Use the pattern editing box to create
and modify patterns. This forms the pattern library. Songs are
built by using these patterns.

PATTERN EDITING:

Pattern editing is both fun and powerful. In a short time
you can create very interesting rhythms. Use the left mouse
button to set a note, the right to unset it. There are multiple
levels of loadness on every "hit" you set, this can be used to
achive a more human feel. You can also loop on a pattern as you
create it. Hold the shift key down along with the mouse to insert
a flam.

MIDI FILE GENERATION: (registered version only)

Once you have created a drum song, you can convert it to a
standard MIDI type 1 file. For example, to convert a file you
created, say MYFILE.PCD to MIDIFILE.MID, type on the DOS command:

	PCD2MIDI MYFILE.PCD MIDIFILE.MID
