 Manually Installing Vern 1.7
------------------------------

- Copy the distribution file vern17.zip to the directory where
you want to install vern (eg. c:\Program Files\One Guy Coding)
- if you're running a previous version of Vern you should remove it
or make a copy before installing this version
- if Vern is currently running close the program. You might want
to install Vern in a different directory since you may find it
difficult to delete the old vernhook.dll file. Alternatively
you should do a quick restart and hold down the Ctrl key to prevent
the startup group from being processed as follows,
      - Select Start/Shutdown
      - Choose the "Restart the Computer" option with the SHIFT key
depressed (this will do a quick restart)
      - Hold down the Ctrl key when Windows starts back up to prevent
the Startup folder from being processed
      - delete or move the prior vern.exe and vernhook.dll
- Unzip vern17.zip (winzip is good for this)
- This will unzip the following files,

   vern.exe - Vern executable
   vernhook.dll - Vern hook library
   vern.hlp - Vern help file
   vern.cnt - Vern help file
   readme.txt - this file
   register.exe - registration application

- Optionally delete vern17.zip
- Run vern.exe

NOTE: if you were previously using a old version you should
delete the files vern95.exe and vern95.hlp.

That's it. If you want vern to start each time you
start windows, create a shortcut in your StartUp
menu, normally,

c:\windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp

you can do this from the Vern context menu. Right click
on Vern and select 'Add to Startup Folder'.
