____________
NEW FEATURES

1. New PCFirewall System Tray icon for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0.

2. PCFirewall is now a control panel extension with an improved interface.

3. Password protected and scrambled configuration file.

____________
KNOWN ISSUES

1. On Windows NT systems, PCFirewall only operates on
32-bit applications. If you require full firewall
coverage, remove or rename the winsock.dll file in
the system32 directory so it is not accessible.

2. The communications-blocking component of PCFirewall
may display an error message, such as, "NetCrypto Error."
This error message occurs if PCFirewall files
have been removed without uninstalling PCFirewall.

3. In the sample webserver example on page 23 of the manual, a
rule for allowing https incoming traffic is missing.
Add a rule to allow in https traffic on tcp port 443.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

PCFirewall 1.0.1 does not include a central console for
network installation and administration. However, it is
possible to centrally configure PCFirewall using a virtual
console. Since PCFirewall uses a single configuration file
(a FWF file) that is partially machine independent, you can
create this file on one machine and propagate it to other
machines.

For Network installation, follow the steps outlined below.

1. Designate one Windows 95 or Window NT machine on your
network as the PCFirewall virtual console. Install
    PCFirewall on this machine.

2. Use the PCFirewall control panel interface to create
a configuration for the machines on your network. This
configuration will be stored as pcfwall.fwf in your
    Windows or Winnt directory.

Note: To create multiple configurations, create the first
one and copy the FWF file to another location, then
          proceed with the next configuration.

3. When the configurations are complete, copy the FWF files
to your network machines. The FWF file must be copied
to the Windows directory for Windows 95 and the Winnt
directory for Windows NT. You can do this with an asset
management tool, such as Saber LAN Workstation, or any
other remote file copy technique. You can copy the files
    during installation or anytime thereafter.

The FWF file is password-protected and scrambled so that users
cannot modify it without a password. Any unauthorized changes
to the configuration, such as deleting the FWF file, will cause
PCFirewall to block all TCP/IP traffic. A new FWF file will
need to be installed to re-enable selective filtering.
