How do I build an index?

Building a Data Detective index is straightforward:

1. Double-click on the Data Detective Indexer icon placed on your desktop during the installation.

The Indexer is extremely flexible, allowing you to set which drives, folders, documents and mail messages to index. For now, just leave the default values in place.

2. Click the button. An Indexing Result dialogue will appear, describing the ongoing indexing process.

Click on the Indexing Result dialog once indexing is finished.

4.

Click to shut down the Indexer application.

Your Data Detective index has been built, and you're now ready to start searching.
