PHYSICS

Physics is the study of objects that make up the natural universe and their interaction with each other.

Students interested in physics should be skilled in research, analysis, investigation, and problem-solving as well as demonstrate success in mathematics, science, computer science, social studies, and English. In addition to a rigorous college preparatory program, helpful high school courses include biology, chemistry, history, English, and four years of competitive to very competitive mathematics.

Most physics majors require extensive work in mathematics, computer science and the natural and life sciences. Typical physics courses include fundamentals of physics, thermal physics, introductory mechanics, electricity and magnetism, and nuclear and particle physics.

Job placement depends on area of specialization and advanced degrees.
