AFRO-ASIAN LANGUAGES

The study of the Afro-Asian family of languages includes Arabic and Hebrew as well as related languages of North Africa and the Near East. Approximately 190 million people share these languages. The political sensitivity of this region and those near it underlines the importance of understanding the languages and cultures.

Historically, this area has served as a birthplace of civilization and therefore, its language development teaches important lessons which are relevant to a wide range of disciplines.

The Afro-Asian languages when studied in conjunction with an interdisciplinary anthropological project can transform difficult and tedious research into exciting implications and historical revelations with important relevance to the present.
