Section 1 INSTALLING THE NETWARE 3.1X/4.X ODI SERVER DRIVER
------------------------------------------------------------

You can install and use the EtherWORKS 3 ODI server driver on
NetWare 3.1X and NetWare 4.X servers. The installation procedures
are different for each server.

To install the EtherWORKS 3 ODI server driver on a NetWare 3.1X
file server, follow the instructions in the README.TXT file located
in the \ODI\SERVER\FIELDTST\31XFILES directory.

To install the EtherWORKS 3 ODI server driver on a NetWare 4.X file
server, perform the following steps:

I. Verify that the ethernet network interface card (NIC) is properly
configured and installed. Refer to "DEC EtherWORKS 3 Installation"
     for instructions.

IIa. Perform the following steps to install the EtherWORKS 3 ODI server
driver during a NetWare 4.x installation.

     1. When the "Load LAN Driver" screen appears with the message "Choose
a LAN driver" press the <INSERT> key.

     2. Place the EtherWORKS 3 distribution media in your diskette drive
and press <ENTER> to continue. You will now notice a screen which
has the message "Scanning for available drivers..."

     3. Next a screen will appear with the message "Select a LAN driver to
install". Highlight the following and press the <ENTER> key:

EWRK3.LAN | DEC EWRK3 Ethernet controller Novell NetWare Server Driver

     4. Select parameters(e.g. Port Value, Node Address, Frame types) as is
necessary according to your System and Network's operating environment
When finished press the <F10> key to exit the form and load the
driver. NetWare will now load the driver and bind it to the protocols
	you specified.

IIb. Perform the following steps to install the EtherWORKS 3 ODI server
driver after a NetWare 4.x installation:

     A. Reload the INSTALL utility.

	1. From the System Console, load INSTALL:

	      :LOAD INSTALL

	2. Select "Maintenance/Selective Install" then "LAN Driver Options"
	   under "Installation Options."

	3. Hit the Insert <Ins> key to select the "Load a LAN driver not
	   listed" option.

	4. Place the DOS-format Distribution Diskette (Disk 1) into the
server floppy drive then press RETURN to scan for NetWare
	   3.1X/4.X ODI server drivers.

	5. When "DEC EtherWORKS 3 Novell NetWare Server Driver"
appears, press RETURN and follow the instructions to install
	   the driver files.

     B. From the "Driver EWRK3 parameters" option screen, configure the IO
port number, node address, and frame types.

	1. Enter the port number where the DEC EtherWORKS 3 controller was
	   configured via the NICSETUP utility.

	2. Enter an optional node address override in canonical-format.
If you enter a node address override, that address is added to
the driver configuration table and used as a source address on
all transmitted frames for that controller.

	3. Edit the frame type by pressing the ENTER key when "ETHERNET 802.2"
is highlighted. Use the ENTER and F3 keys to load either one or
all of the supported Ethernet frame types. If a frame type is not
specified, the default frame type, ETHERNET_802.2, is used.

	4. Press the F10 key to load the driver. If the driver does not
load, use the Alt-Esc key sequence to switch to the System
Console and view the driver load error message.

	5. If the driver loaded successfully, the INSTALL utility asks
whether IPX should be bound to the driver and prompts for a
proper external IPX address. Follow the utility instructions
to continue, then return to the "Installation Options" menu.

	6. To save the configuration information, select "NCF Files Options"
then "Create AUTOEXEC.NCF file" to add the driver LOAD and BIND
statements to the AUTOEXEC.NCF file. The next time the server is
restarted the driver loads and binds to IPX automatically.

	7. Exit the INSTALL utility, DOWN the server, and return to the DOS
	   prompt.

III. Restart the server with the EtherWORKS 3 ODI server driver.

Enter the following command at the DOS prompt:

	SERVER

The changes made to the STARTUP.NCF and AUTOEXEC.NCF files, in steps
     II-IV above, take effect.
