If you have any problems loading this buggy program, try not clicking on amapi.exe but try clicking on one of the example files like "man.x".  This sould make it so you can enter the serial number.  Try other stuff.

Keys:
	Right mouse button once:  Bulls Eye
	Right mouse button twice: Lasso (cross hair)
	Right mouse button three times: Wand

Keyboard:
	Tab: used to enter numerical data
	Shift Key: snaps the cursor to the nearest point
	Control Key: lots of stuff when pressed with Shift or Arrows.
	Space: additional options
	Delete: undo
	Return: lots of stuff..use it
	Arrow keys: you go around your object
	1: Zoom in
	0: try it
	period: zoom out
	3: zoom in slowly
	minus and plus: try them

You will be using the 2D Drawing Tool for most of your work.  Thats the icon that looks like a pen and has a gray background.


Exercise 1.4: The cherry

step 1: switch to NURBS mode (press Alt-B).  A small B will be displayed at the bottom of your screen.  

step 2: Select the Sphere Tool (the round ball thing).  After picking the tool, click where you want the center axis to be and then hit TAB and enter 120.  Then hit return.  This will make the round object 120cm long.

step 3: pick the thing that looks like the robot arm (Stretching Tool).  Press space bar twice.  Click the center of the top of the control box (the thing around the round ball) and move it down a bit (about 80cm).

step 4: go to the lower right and pick the Control panel (it will come up after you go over it).  Switch to Orthogonal View.

step 5: click the right mouse button untill you get the Bulls Eye (the 3D arrow thing).  Make sure you in a front view (2).

step 6: click around the top of the box.  You only want the TOP of the control box.  Nothing more.  Go back to the control panel and switch back to Perspective view.

step 7: select one of the points and move it up.  the rest of the points should follow.  Get rid of the NURBS mode (Alt + B).  Pick the hid entry tool in the Control panel (looks like a ghost).

step 8: reframe the scene by pressing 0.  Pick the 2D Drawling tool (the thing explained above).  Pick the Polyline tool (looks like the stock market).  Click the origin to set the first point.  Press the space bar twice to get vertical constraint.  Move the cursor up about 30cm.  Hit return.

AND YOU WILL DO A LOT MORE. 

make a circle from the top view.  make it small. pick the snapping tool (you will find it).  Click a point on the circle.  Then click again on the bottom point of the line you made in step 8.  Go to front view.  Pick the Extrustion tool (the pipe with a bump).  Click on the profile and then click on top of the large line to cap.  Get rid of the tool.

Now pick the the bending tool and try to make the pipe bend.  then attach it to the circle thing and you will get a apple.  have fun.
