Sometimes its difficult to quickly locate pertinent information in a crowded worksheet. Use formatting to dramatically improve your worksheets power to communicate clearly. There are many ways you can modify the appearance of your worksheet. Before you make a change, remember to select the cell or range you want to apply the change to.

Need more formatting options?   Instead of using toolbar buttons, right-click to see the available formatting commands. Automatically apply formatting to a range   Use an autoformat, which makes all formatting changes for you at once. Click AutoFormat (Format menu), and select the look you want.
Do you see ###### in a cell?   Widen the column by double-clicking the right border of the column heading. (When you point to the column border, it changes to a two-headed arrow.) You can also fit data into a cell by changing the number format, or by using the Shrink to fit option of the Cells command (Format menu).
