------------------------------------------------------------

The latest information about Modem Wizard 97 can always be
found in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) section of the
Kiss web site, www.kissco.com. The FAQs can also be found
on the installation diskette in Word document form.

------------------------------------------------------------

1. I want to register but I don't have a company name ------

The Modem Wizard registration wants information to be
entered into all fields. If you purchased Modem Wizard for
personal use, in the "Company Name" field enter "None" or
"Personal".

2. On-line registration starts my E-mail and waits ---------

The on-line registration processor wants to connect to the
KISS registration web page. However, if your Internet
package is set to start E-mail when launched (rather than
a browser), the Modem Wizard registration will come to the E-
mail page and wait. If you are there, switch to or launch
your browser and go to "http://www.kissco.com/register.htm".

3. Long file name support ----------------------------------

Modem Wizard utilizes a Win 95/Win 3.1 compatible setup
processor. Therefore, Win 95 long file and directory names
are supported.

4. I have a modem but it cant be found --------------------

Here are several possible reasons why:
A. You have a Windows only modem. Modem Wizard's test
program runs in a DOS box for a more accurate test of
your modem. Look for future updates to Modem Wizard
to handle Windows only modems.
B. The cable from your computer to your modem is loose
(external only).
C. Your modem is in a funny state. Try turning your
modem off and then on ( external only ). Try
shutting down Windows and then turn your computer off
and then on ( internal only ).
D. Another application is using the modem.

5. Yesterday my modem was found but not today --------------

Here are several possible reasons why:
A. The cable from your computer to your modem is loose
(external only).
B. Your modem is in a funny state. Try turning your
modem off and then on ( external only ).
Try shutting down Windows and then turn your computer
off and then on ( internal only ).
C. Another application is using the modem.

6. Does Modem Wizard setup my computer for the internet? ---

You need a modem and an Internet Service Provider (ISP) such
as AOL or AT&T WorldNet installed before Modem Wizard can
completely setup your computer up for the Internet.

7. What is an "ISP"? ---------------------------------------

ISP stands for Internet Service Provider. AOL, AT&T WorldNet
and EarthLink are examples of ISPs.

8. Modem Wizard didn't find my modem -----------------------

If you were connected at the time, Modem Wizard won't find
your modem. Its tests are non-destructive and to make sure
we don't disconnect an on-line session, we won't find your
modem if your modem is in use.

9. When not to "Skip Browser" ------------------------------

When you connect using Modem Wizard or Modem Monitor, you
get a screen that allows you to choose which browser to
load. You also have the option to "Skip Browser". You might
want to do this, for example, if you plan to directly access
an FTP site without using the web.

However, if you have selected one of Modem Wizard's direct
connections to web sites, such as the Modem Exchange or the
Tech Support menu command, you must choose a browser. If you
select "Skip Browser", Modem Wizard cannot complete your
requested web access.

10. Working with AOL ---------------------------------------

Modem Wizard was designed specifically to work with AOL.
However, it is possible to set conflicting options in Modem
Wizard and AOL. Most often these problems will be seen if
Modem Wizard has been set to automatically redial if the
connection is lost and AOL has NOT been set to remember the
password. See below and the FAQ for information on how to
resolve this and other issues.

11. Problems when Skipping the Login Dialog box ------------

The Login Dialog screen includes the telephone number of
your provider, user name, and, when saved, your password.
To save you time, Modem Wizard allows you a "one click"
logon to the internet if you select "Skip Login Dialog" on
the Modem Monitor screen. If any information is incorrect
or missing, for example the ISP's phone number has changed
or if you haven't saved the password, your "automatic" login
will fail. To undo the "Skip Login Dialog", go the Modem
Monitor screen and select "Reset Personalization".

12. A quirk with Worldnet ----------------------------------

This quirk happens when you have other ISPs installed along
with the WorldNet ISP installed.

WorldNet comes with a Netscape that is WorldNet aware. If
you run a Netscape that didn't come WorldNet you may run
into incompatibilty problems. Furthermore, If you run a
Netscape or Internet Explorer BEFORE loading the WorldNet
Dialer you may have problems because of incompatibility with
WINSOCK.DLL.

In some cases, if you have Netscape that you downloaded or
purchased from Netscape and you are using WorldNet, you will
have no problems as long as you dial using WorldNet before
running your version of Netscape.

To be safe, terminate all browsers before dialing using
WorldNet and then load your browsers.

13. Changing the phone number before running Remote Test ---

When running the Remote Test from the Modem Test screen, the
telephone number of the remote modem is displayed. If you
need special processing, for example dialing 9 to gain
outside access, you can edit the phone number yourself.
Also, the Local Call button assumes a 7 digit telephone
number typical of North America. If you are calling to an
number that is not 7 digits, the Local Call button will
not work for you. Again, you can enter the number you need.

14. Why should I connect to the Kiss Software home page? ---

You can find out about the latest updates to Modem Wizard
as well as other great software products sold by KISS
Software Corporation. Also, there will probably be some free-
bees available.
