  INSTALLATION (GETTING STARTED)

  ==============================

This package contains 2 programs for putting this saver into your computer
so that it automatically starts itself when your system is idle. Each
performs a different task so please review this before proceeding.

There can be only 1 screen saver active on a computer at a time. Our Razzle
Dazzle and WinDaze savers work with each other without conflict, but if you

have savers from other companies you will need to disable them to restore
  normal operation for our savers.

                                 WINDOWS SETUP
                                 -------------

Close all applications before you start SETUP, and let it reboot when done.

To install the RAZZLE DAZZLE Windows Screen Saver in Windows use the SETUP
program provided in our package. This works with Windows 3.1, Windows-NT,
and Windows-95. If the RazDaz package is on disk A: then simply RUN
A:\SETUP. Do NOT use Win95's Add/Remove-Software command on this saver, just
  RUN it as shown.

  On Windows-NT this will install WinDaz32, a special multi-threaded 32-bit
  version of the saver.

On Windows 3.1/95 it will install WinDaz16 and also the DOS DAZZLE (Razzle
Dazzle) drivers. WinDaz16 may draw too slow unless you have a very fast
video card and CPU, because it is a fully "native" Windows application. The
DAZZLE saver is just a shell that runs the DOS RAZZLE DAZZLE saver under
Windows, which gives far better drawing speed -- but it has the same
limitations as any graphic DOS application running under Windows. So play
with both savers and make your choice. You use your normal Windows Screen
Saver selection menu to select between DAZZLE and WINDAZE.

                                  DOS INSTALL
                                  -----------

Close all applications before you start INSTALL, and reboot when it is done.

To install the RAZZLE DAZZLE DOS Screen Saver use the INSTALL program
provided in our package. This works with MSDOS3.3 or newer. If the RazDaz
package is on disk A: then simply type "A:\INSTALL".

This install puts drivers into your CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files that
will allow automatic screen saver activation while in DOS mode. If you enter
Windows then this saver will automatically disable itself, even if you then
open an "MS-DOS PROMPT" within Windows (which some users mistakenly think
means that they have returned to the root DOS environment -- only "EXIT
WINDOWS" in Windows 3.1 or "RESTART IN MSDOS" in Win95 actually do that).
You can quickly test if the drivers are properly installed by using the DOS
Saver Hot-Key (the DAZETUNE program can change this key assignment). Press
and hold the Left SHIFT, and also the Left CONTROL, and the TAB key -- then
quickly release all 3 keys. The saver should load.

It is extremely rare that Win95 users will need the RAZDAZ DOS INSTALL on
their computer. If you have some DOS application which requires that you
perform a "SHUTDOWN/RESTART THE COMPUTER IN MSDOS MODE" then the Windows
saver will not be operational. In this case you can use the RAZDAZ DOS
INSTALL to provide a saver while you are using this application. However,
you need to be sure to run the INSTALL when the computer is in exactly the

condition that it will have when running your applications. Win95 tends to
move some files (like AUTOEXEC.BAT) around without telling you. You may have
to manually edit your WINDOWS\DOSSTART.BAT file to get the DAZTSR.EXE to
execute before your application so that normal screen saver action is
  provided.

                                Supplement Disks
                                ----------------

If you have one of the SUPPLEMENT disks (like Scripture Verses, etc.), be
sure to complete the main program install and setup before starting with the
  supplement installation.

                             DOS Installation Notes
                             ----------------------

If you use a network, DOSSHELL, or any menu program, please pay special
attention to the DOS INSTALL program's comments about locating the DAZTSR
  program before these other programs.

If you are a "power user," then you might want to explore the extended
capabilities of these DOS programs. Each of the DOS programs in this suite
support command line help. Just use "/?" after DAZTSR, RAZDAZ, RZDAZE, or
DAZETUNE to see the options. PLEASE use the menu controls (DAZETUNE and
RAZDAZ/#) to make even advanced adjustments, as these prevent simple typos
  from trashing your configuration.

                           UNINSTALLING RAZZLE DAZZLE
                           --------------------------

The RAZZLE DAZZLE Windows SETUP program will offer to UNINSTALL the Windows
saver at the screen where you specify the installation disk path. This will
only remove the Windows specific files belonging to the saver, so as not to
crash the DOS saver. If you also want to remove all the DOS files then also
use the DOS INSTALL program. Close all applications before you start SETUP,
and let it reboot when done to avoid a crash.

The RAZZLE DAZZLE DOS INSTALL program will offer to UNINSTALL the DOS saver,
including those DOS files that can be used by the Windows saver, if it finds
an existing saver (RZDAZE.EXE) in the installation path that you specify. If
you wish to uninstall the DOS saver but retain the DAZZLE DOS files in your
Windows saver then run SETUP again to restore the deleted files after this
DOS uninstall is completed. Close all applications before you start INSTALL,
and reboot when done to avoid a crash.

                                DOS Enhancements
                                ----------------

DAZETUNE is a menu driven screen saver configuration utility for DOS users.
Use "DAZETUNE/?" to see the batch mode commands provided, or just type

DAZETUNE to bring up the interactive menu that provides you with detailed
screen saver driver controls, including DOS password security.

The RAZDAZ.EXE program has a GREATLY enhanced menu driven configuration
system. Execute "RAZDAZ/#" to directly access this new feature. The screen
saver also has the ability to import your own custom images and animations
as part of the image display process. See notes below. Also, just for grins,
while running this program press Control-F4 during normal graphic drawing
  for a pop-up screen.

SETTING THE SLEEP TIME FOR THE DOS SAVER

  ========================================

The DAZETUNE program is used to control how long your computer must be idle
before the DOS saver can activate itself.

To change the timing temporarily (until your next reboot) use the command
"DAZETUNE SLEEP=300" (replace the 300 with whatever number of seconds you
want to set as the sleep time).

To change the timing permanently, execute DAZETUNE with no options so that
the menu program is loaded. At the Main Menu, press the F5 function key to
set DAZTSR option control. When it prompts, "Do you wish to edit these
parameters" press Y. When it prompts, "Which option do you wish to change"
press S. You can now enter the time in seconds that you desire, and press
Enter. When it prompts, "Do you wish to install this change into DAZTSR"
press Y. When it again prompts, "Do you wish to edit these parameters" press
  N. When it prompts, "Update your AUTOEXEC.BAT file" press Y. When it returns
to the Main Menu press Escape. When it prompts, "Return to DOS" press Y.
Your sleep time is now permanently set.

NOTE: if you get any error messages, especially before reaching the Main
Menu, then there is a problem with your installation. Do not try to force
DAZETUNE to proceed on a system with a problem. Run the RAZDAZ DOS INSTALL
again and be certain to watch carefully for any error messages.

SETTING THE SLEEP TIME FOR THE WINDOWS SAVER

  ============================================

In Windows 3.x go to Program Manager, Main group, Control Panel, Desktop,
Screen Saver, and adjust the Delay. Select OK when satisfied.

In Windows-95 go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Display, Screen Saver,
and adjust the Wait. Select Apply then OK when satisfied.

Note that Windows may treat the activity of the DAZZLE (Razzle Dazzle) saver
as an indication that the monitor power-saver should not be activated. If
you have an Energy-Star system and try to set the monitor to automatically

power-off you may need to use WinDaze or experiment with your system
settings. FYI: What the EPA didn't tell anybody when they mandated Energy-
Star compliance (how typical of a bureaucracy) was that cycling some
electronic devices on and off too rapidly very greatly decreases their life
expectancy. The high-voltage circuits in most monitors are well built but
still vulnerable to stress failures from power cycling. If you use Energy-
Star at all on non-portable computers then it may be best to set them for
maximum delay times to reduce the chance of the system cycling too rapidly.
Also note that many scheduled applications (like System Agent in Win95) will
awaken a monitor when running automated processes, and can thus increase the
risks of computer damage from power cycling.

  VIDEO FOR WINDOWS (AVI)

  =======================

Windows-95 automatically includes the ability to play Audio/Visual (movie)
files called AVI. This enables animation playback for WinDaze. However,
Windows 3.1 users may have to make more effort to enable movies on their
  computers.

Microsoft offers a multimedia application called MediaPlayer. This nifty
tool can play Video For Windows (*.AVI) files, as well as other things. The
really nice thing is that it also installs all the drivers needed by Windows
to activate multimedia capabilities, as optionally used by WinDaze.

If you don't have this on your system, you can download VFWRUN.ZIP from the
Microsoft forum on Compuserve or their WEB site. If you need this ability,
then joining Compuserve even only on a trial basis to download the
VFWRUN.ZIP file (which has the Video For Windows runtime files by Microsoft)
and a few sample .AVI files is a good solution.

  AUDIO IN WINDOWS

  ================

If you enable WAV or AVI files, and have a properly installed sound card
available to Windows, then you should have audio with your WinDaze screen
saver. Note that some Windows audio drivers may not properly respond to the
volume control information that we supply. So if you use the SETUP menu in
WinDaze to adjust the volume, and nothing happens, you will have to use the
volume controls offered by your sound card supplier. There is nothing we can
do to assist you. There is no volume control currently offered for MIDI
  music via WinDaze.

Since the WinDaze programs strictly adhere to the Windows specifications for
sound (as well as graphics), you must have a properly installed and
functioning sound system (drivers, etc.) in Windows for WinDaze to be able
to support this feature. If you can't use the MediaPlayer that came with
Windows, then WinDaze can not work. Let Microsoft Technical Support help you

get MediaPlayer working, then only after MediaPlayer is working fully if you
are still having a problem with WinDaze give us a call.

We do NOT supply you with music files for use with the screen saver. You
will have to select files already on your system, or download from the huge
  volume of material available online.

  COLORS IN WINDOWS

  =================

If you run WINDAZE as a Window, instead of a full-screen saver, you will
notice that some other colors on your display may be changed while WINDAZE
is active. Your VGA card is only capable of 256 distinct colors in any one
display. WINDAZE uses all but 20 of these colors. Windows reserves 20 colors
to try to keep most menus and icons usable at all times. All the remaining
colors are surrendered to WINDAZE for cycling for artistic effect.

If you have a Windows WallPaper or any other image on the display that uses
more than the default Windows 20 colors, these colors will change while
WINDAZE is active. What Windows will normally do is ask the application
responsible for the image to convert to using the closest of the available
reserved 20 colors for the entire display, thus releasing the other colors
for cycling by WINDAZE. This can result in some interesting looking
displays. The means of handling this reduction in available colors from 256
to 20 is handled by both Windows and each application that is using the
display at the time. WINDAZE does not directly participate in the process,
other than asking Windows for control of the unreserved colors.

When WINDAZE terminates Windows will announce to all the applications that
256 colors are available again. It is the responsibility of Windows and the
active applications to restore normal screen colors when WINDAZE terminates.

USER SUPPLIED IMAGES AS PART OF THE SCREEN SAVE

  ===============================================

Both the DOS RAZDAZ and the Windows WINDAZE programs will import user
supplied graphics and animations as part of their normal Screen Saver
presentation. This gives you great freedom to customize the saver for
personal or business reasons. The actions of DOS and Windows differ, so
review this information fully for the best results.

                             WINDOWS IMAGE FORMATS
                             ---------------------

WinDaze is a strictly WINDOWS COMPLIANT APPLICATION and Screen Saver. While
that means the drawing speed is only a fraction of what our DOS based DAZZLE
(Razzle Dazzle) saver provides, it also means that the saver obeys the

Multimedia PC standards. Your Windows compatible Bitmap (BMP) image files
and AVI movie files will play with WinDaze (if there is enough memory free
for the saver, your video mode is correct for the AVI/BMP, and other
standard Windows constraints). The same is true of Midi and WAV audio files.
Basically, if MediaPlayer can play it, then WinDaze probably can also.

If you install the extra AAPLAY drivers from AutoDesk Inc. you can also
  support FLI/FLC silent movies.

                               DOS IMAGE FORMATS
                               -----------------

Color PCX (version 5) or GIF (87a) images can be displayed by RAZZLE DAZZLE
if they have any of the following characteristics of width, height, and
  number of colors:

  640 x 350 16-colors
  320 x 200 256-colors
  320 x 400 256-colors
  640 x 480 256-colors (VESA/SVGA required)

The program will automatically ignore images that exceed these limits, or
that can not be displayed on your detected video system.

The PCX must be saved in VERSION 5 mode. The GIF should be saved in 87a
format (though most 89a images will work). GIF must be in NON-INTERLACED
mode, must contain only one image per file, and should not contain any
EXTENSION blocks within the file. (The command "RAZDAZ /%" will create a
file RAZDAZ.LOG that will tell you why it won't load any particular image
files if you are having trouble identifying the incompatibility).

FLI and FLC industry standard animation format files can be played by RAZZLE
DAZZLE as part of the screen saver process. These files must be 320 x 200
  256-color image resolution.

NOTE: File names can be used to prevent some images from being displayed in
certain situations. If an image file name ends with an underline character,
and the image in the file is only 16-color, then it will not be displayed if
the current video image mode is 256-colors. Thus you can make CUSTOM1.GIF
with a 256-color version of an image, and also make CUSTOM1_.GIF with a 16-
color version of the same image, and only the image matching the current
video mode of your computer will be displayed.

                            DOS IMAGE SPECIFICATION
                            -----------------------

The RAZZLE DAZZLE program will automatically locate and display PCX and GIF
image files, and FLI animation files, loaded in the same directory as the
  RAZDAZ.EXE file (usually C:\RAZDAZ).

The easiest way to have RAZZLE DAZZLE display your images is to copy the
files into this directory path. RAZZLE DAZZLE scans the image directory at

startup to find any file names that it can display while the program is
  active.

You may change the directory where the program looks for image files by
using the "/P" command line option. The default for this option is
"/Pc:\razdaz". This tells RAZZLE DAZZLE to look for image and animation
files on disk "C" in directory "\RAZDAZ". There must be no space or tab
characters separating any portion of this command. This command must be
separated from all following options with at least one space. Upper case and
lower case letters are treated the same. Specification of the disk drive is
  mandatory.

It is suggested that you use the command "RAZDAZ /#" to bring up the
configuration menu. Press the "P" key to select the path. Enter the desired
path. When you press ENTER it will let you save the change to both the
RAZDAZ and the RZDAZE programs, answer "Y" to both prompts.

                             DOS IMAGE SCRIPT FILE
                             ---------------------

We have added a new configuration capability that lets you take full charge
of the order in which your images and animations are imported by the screen
saver. In the directory pointed to by the RAZDAZ /P option (which INSTALL
will default to the location where the screen saver has been installed on
your hard disk) simply create a normal (ASCII) text file listing the names
of your files in the order you wish to see them played. The file must be
named RAZDAZ.PLA, and you simply put the full name of each file in the order
to be played, one entry per line. For example, RAZDAZ.PLA could contain:

; The 1st character is a semi-colon so this line is only a comment.
    ;
; First we select 3 images for display. Specify name and extension
    ; only, no path.

    myimage1.pcx
    myimage2.gif
    someimag.gif

    ; Now an animation.

    mymovie.fli

; You can intermix images and movies in any order you wish.

; If for some reason you want to use normal DOS wildcards in the
; name specification you may do so. Thus this is legal:

    *.gif

; When the end of this file is reached it will automatically loop back to
; the top and start the sequence over again.

  REMOVING THE PROVIDED SAMPLES (Advertisements)

  ==============================================

If you installed a prior version of a Razzle Dazzle saver and you allowed
the Windows SETUP, or the DOS INSTALL, programs to install the sample
animations or images, then some files were placed on your system that you
might later wish to remove. These are the "advertisements" for "Mark of the
Beast" and the "Razzle Dazzle" promotions. These samples show you the
capability of adding your own custom enhancements to the screen saver.

RSIMOTB.FLI is a sample animation file for the "Mark of the Beast" PC game.
This shows how such files can be used with the screen saver.

  You can enter:

       ERASE C:\RAZDAZ\RSIMOTB.FLI

to remove this sample advertisement from your screen saver (use the correct
path if you didn't install to the assumed default shown here).

RZ_VGA.GIF and RZ_SVGA.GIF are sample image files that show the name
"RAZZLE DAZZLE" on a background captured from the Razzle Dazzle program
itself (prior versions of this saver used PCX instead of GIF files for this
purpose). These images show not only the ability to import your own custom
images into the saver, but also give a hint of how useful you may find the
screens that Razzle Dazzle will export for your own screen designs.

  You can enter:

       ERASE C:\RAZDAZ\RZ_VGA.GIF
       ERASE C:\RAZDAZ\RZ_SVGA.GIF

to remove all the sample images from your screen saver (use the correct path
if you didn't install to the assumed default).

GENERAL NOTE ABOUT DOS SCREEN SAVERS

  ====================================

The world is full of screen savers for Windows, some nearly as unique and
sophisticated as RAZZLE DAZZLE. But there are extremely few DOS screen
savers that support the graphical standards of this program. The reason for
the general lack of competition is simple, it takes a very complex piece of
software to provide in DOS the capabilities needed for a graphics system as
advanced as RAZZLE DAZZLE. While Windows enforces fairly strict rules for
the interaction of application programs, DOS by comparison is quite a 'free-
for-all.' RAZZLE DAZZLE is a best-selling product that in a short time has
risen to substantial sales levels. This program is running error-free on
tens of thousands of computers every day. Most of its users had no problem
with the installation, and have reported no conflicts since then.

With DOS being the undisciplined environment that it is, it is simply
impossible for any saver that produces nontrivial graphics to offer a single
configuration that perfectly fits the various and contradictory needs of the
millions of DOS systems and applications now in use. While we do fine-tune
the default assumptions made by our DOS screen saver drivers, ultimately
there will always be a number of customers that will need or want custom
settings. We know of no other saver that offers the broad range of
adjustability of the entire RAZZLE DAZZLE suite. Nearly every aspect of the
actions of the drivers, and the image generators, can be manipulated by you
for your system or personal taste. You can impact the amount of memory used
(especially with the DAZTSR switches like /E, /N, or /X), change how the DOS
drivers decide when your system is idle and ready for a screen save
(especially with the DAZTSR switches /A and /W), and much more. So much
flexibility unavoidably results in some complexity, but we have added
DAZETUNE to provide self-documenting menu control of the DAZTSR DOS driver.
We have also added the "RAZDAZ.EXE /#" configuration menu system for easier
control of the various graphics engine features.

If the saver starts when you don't want it to, or if it doesn't start when
you do want it to, or if there is any other aspect of the default program
behavior that you wish to change, there is probably a menu option that will
do what you want. First, don't panic. Read the installation screens
carefully. Explore DAZETUNE and "RAZDAZ /#" menus with their self-help
  screens.

WHEN DOS RUNS OUT OF MEMORY

  ===========================

This discussion is probably obsolete for Windows-95.

Some DOS applications require that a large amount of system memory (RAM) be
available when they try to run. When you install the RAZZLE DAZZLE DOS
drivers they will use some of that memory, as will any other TSR (memory
resident program). If some application or program that was working before
suddenly complains about lacking sufficient memory once RAZZLE DAZZLE is
installed there are various solutions that you can investigate.

First, don't panic! We say this often, because the most serious difficulties
to unravel for customers are when they let fear or impatience replace calm
reason at some difficulty, and they proceeded to take actions that make
  matters far worse.

If you are in a big hurry to use some application that has suddenly run out
of memory, then you can remove the memory driver. When you ran our INSTALL
program your prior version of AUTOEXEC.BAT was saved as AUTOEXEC.BAK, so you
can simply use these commands to return the file to its state before the
  installation:
       ERASE AUTOEXEC.BAT
       REN AUTOEXEC.BAK AUTOEXEC.BAT
The DOS memory driver is now out of the way, and your application should
run, if it was in fact the RAZZLE DAZZLE driver that caused the situation.

It is true that CONFIG.SYS also has a driver, called DAZISR, but it is so
very small that it is unlikely that it will ever cause any concerns.

You also have the option to run the RAZDAZ DOS INSTALL program and select
the UNINSTALL option to remove the saver from memory. When you re-install
RAZDAZ pay special attention to the EMS and XMS memory options, enabling
these can reduce memory conflicts in many situations.

Microsoft offers a program called MEMMAKER on its newer DOS releases that is
provided specifically to help you to get the maximum amount of memory from
your system. Usually, the combination of MEMMAKER and the correct DAZTSR
switches will solve any memory conflicts. Managing your available memory is
something of an art, and you may need to consult with Microsoft technical
support, or the technical support offered by the manufacturers of any other
memory management system that you may be using.

THE KB REQUIRED VALUE IS TOO LARGE

  ==================================

If you get the above message in Windows, it will suggest that you "Decrease
PIF KB Required" to try to use less memory. This message means that the
amount of memory that DOS made available to Windows when the system was
started is insufficient to run the desired application. The suggestion to
decrease the PIF KB Required is absolutely inappropriate for RAZDAZ
programs. We have set the PIF files to the correct values needed to run the
programs. You may have enough memory for the RAZDAZ program to run from DOS,
but when Windows loads some of the "conventional" RAM is taken away from
applications. If what remains is too small, the RAZDAZ program can not
execute. See the note above on "When DOS runs of out memory" for suggestions
on making more memory available prior to the startup of Windows -- which is
the only viable solution to this error message in Windows.

  DOS NETWORK NOTES

  =================

RAZZLE DAZZLE is not specifically intended for use on a File Server, or
other DOS based systems that run programs which can never be interrupted for
screen saves. On such systems you will need to use the DAZTSR /B option for
"Blank Only" mode. It provides no graphics, but also won't interrupt the
  current application.

Please be sure you have purchased a Site License for RAZZLE DAZZLE before
putting the program on multiple terminals or network nodes, or have a
distinct purchased copy of RAZZLE DAZZLE for each user accessing the
  program.

The DAZTSR DOS driver should normally be installed (usually by AUTOEXEC.BAT)
after the main network drivers (IPX, NETX, whatever), but before the login

command (there are some exceptions). It is normally desirable to have the
DAZTSR.EXE file located on a local drive, and loaded by the local
AUTOEXEC.BAT batch file. If you have a network station that does not have a
local hard disk, and does not provide sufficient EMS or XMS memory for
DAZTSR to use for its swap file, then the program will need a path
specification for a location where it can make and use the swap file. Use
DAZETUNE, the F5 menu, the I option, to specify where to place the swap
file. If you can't load DAZETUNE because you can't get DAZTSR into memory,
then simply append this to your AUTOEXEC.BAT line for DAZTSR:

       /Ic:\somepath\DAZ_IMG.$$$

Change the "c:" to whatever drive is valid, and change the "somepath" to a
legal location for the swap file.

  DOS DAZETUNE

  ============

DAZETUNE provides a friendly graphical menu interface for working with the
DOS Screen Saver driver called DAZTSR. DAZETUNE, like DAZISR.SYS and
DAZTSR.EXE, are not used in the Windows-only or Windows-95 installations
(normally). DAZETUNE can be used to configure or trouble-shoot RAZZLE DAZZLE
for DOS. When you run DAZETUNE, you will see a menu of various options. The
most frequently used are highlighted. For example, with the F10 key you can
activate the DOS security system. With the F9 key you access the controls
for customizing the screen saver program (RZDAZE.EXE) itself. With the F5
key you can customize the options in the DOS screen saver driver
(DAZTSR.EXE). Most of the switches and settings are self-documenting (help
text pops up for each command that you select), so you should be able to
  find your way along.

  NEW DOS DAZTSR OPTIONS

  ======================

A number of new options have been added to those listed in the original
User's Manual (no longer published). Of special note are those related to
/W, and /K, which control how the DOS driver determines when your computer
is idle, and what hot-keys you can use to manually start the saver,
  respectively.

Please note that use of the DAZETUNE program provides the user with friendly
graphical menus for setting these options. Direct use of these options, as
shown in the manual, is now discouraged.

  NEW DOS RZDAZE/RAZDAZ OPTION

  ============================

A new option /G has been added to iGnore the mouse. This can be useful if
you are experiencing a conflict with your mouse driver. Updating your mouse
driver will usually prevent the need for using this option.

Use the command "RAZDAZ /# /G" to bring up the menu driven configuration
display. Make sure the /G option is shown as active, then press ENTER. The
program will ask if you want to make the setting permanent for RAZDAZ.EXE
(the manual player program), you should press "Y". The program will next ask
if you want to make the setting permanent for RZDAZE.EXE (the screen saver
program), you should press "Y". The setting is now permanent.

  NOTICE TO COMPRESSED DISK USERS

  ============================

If you use Microsoft's DOUBLESPACE, or DRIVESPACE, or other disk compression
systems, you may find that the DOS screen saver can not properly restore the
screen to its prior state when returning to your program. This only happens
if you do not have, nor allow DAZTSR to use, enough EMS and/or XMS memory to
allow the screen save to be done to memory. If DAZTSR has to save your
current screen contents to a disk swap file (normally DAZ_IMG.$$$) and this
file is created in a compacted "partition" the file will be corrupted,
causing bad screen restores (reference DOS NETWORK NOTES above for an
example). This is easily corrected with the /I option to the DAZTSR program.
Use the DAZETUNE command to bring up a configuration menu. Select the F5
screen, and use the I key to specify a disk:path\filename to a "partition"
not compressed by DOUBLESPACE. See the Microsoft MS-DOS User's Manual for
  DOUBLESPACE.

  NOTICE TO QEMM USERS

  =====================

While the DAZTSR /E command is intended to improve compatibility with QEMM,
the STEALTH mode remains a source of conflicts. The best solution is to re-
optimize your system without the stealth mode (/ST:M or similar enables
stealth). The QuarterDeck Tech Support folks can explain to you how to
establish an exclusion list for the entire RAZZLE DAZZLE suite if you need
to retain the stealth mode otherwise.

  FAX AND MODEM MONITORING

  ========================

If you have a fax or modem and need to allow incoming calls to be processed
in DOS without conflict with a screen saver, be certain to note the /Y
option in RAZDAZ.EXE (and RZDAZE.EXE). The DOS INSTALL program will attempt
to detect any available devices in the COM1 through COM4 ranges, and help
you select the ports to monitor. If you only run the Windows SETUP you will
need to use the "RAZDAZ /#" DOS command to access the /Y options that
  control these monitors.

DRAWING PADS AND OTHER LESS COMMON DOS INPUT DEVICES

  ====================================================

DAZTSR supports a /G option that lets you Grab the interrupt used by your
input device so that you can prevent unwanted screen saver startups. This is
intended only for devices that can not be detected with the normal features
of the /W watch monitors. This option can not assist you if your device does
not use interrupts (a "polled" driver). Use DAZETUNE, the F5 menu, to select
and enter the G value for your device.

If your device connects to a serial/COM port, then try these values for the
  /G option:

       COM1 or COM3 enter 12
       COM2 or COM4 enter 11

If your device has its own interface card that is used instead of the COM
ports, then look at the hardware or setup reference manual for the device.
It should specify somewhere what interrupt it uses to communicate with the
device. You can enter the value their manual suggest. Be certain to enter
DECIMAL (base 10) numbers, not HEXADECIMAL (base 16) numbers (these numbers
often have letters as part of their specification).

If the device's manual shows the interface as an IRQ number instead of an
INT number, you can use this chart to convert the values:

       IRQ0 = 8    IRQ1 = 9    IRQ2 = 10   IRQ3 = 11   IRQ4 = 12
       IRQ5 = 13   IRQ6 = 14   IRQ7 = 15   IRQ8 = 112  IRQ9 = 113
       IRQ10= 114  IRQ11= 115  IRQ12= 116  IRQ13= 117  IRQ14= 118
       IRQ15= 119

  HIGH SPEED COMPUTER USERS

  =========================

So you got the newest 80986-2DX 950MHz system with ESP cache (creates the
needed data even before it exists), and now you think the RAZZLE DAZZLE

images draw too fast. Well, don't despair. We've raised the limit on the /D
delay value to 32767. So now you can type "RAZDAZ /# /D=32767" to push the
slowdown delays to the maximum. Remember to SAVE the settings to the screen
saver programs to make them permanent.

If you wish to fine-tune the DELAY value to exactly match your taste, then
run the DOS RAZDAZ program (NOT RZDAZE). While the program is drawing use
the UP and DOWN cursor keys to adjust the drawing delay. Once the system is
performing at a speed that you like press the F2 function key, and select
the C configuration menu option. The display will show the current /D value
that you selected with the cursor keys. You can make the setting permanent
  from this menu.

  USING DOS APPLICATIONS IN WINDOWS

  =================================

If you are using a DOS application in the Windows environment you will
normally find that Windows will not start any screen saver. HOWEVER RAZZLE
DAZZLE software provides enhanced native Windows 3.1x screen saver drivers
to make all Windows savers start over DOS applications. The files
  \Windows\SAVERHK.EXE, \Windows\SAVERXX.DLL, and \Windows\System\ENTERACT.386
provide this functionality. Windows-95 users do not need these extra
drivers. If for any reason you need to remove these drivers then edit
WIN.INI to remove SAVERHK from the [Windows] "Load=" line, and edit
SYSTEM.INI to remove ENTERACT.386 from the [386Enh] "DeVICE=" line. After
you reboot Windows you can delete these 3 files (the RAZDAZ DOS INSTALL will
do this for you during an UNINSTALL).

If you are using NORTON DESKTOP FOR WINDOWS v2.2 (or higher), you can use
"Sleeper" to control the screen saver activation. This will perform screen
saves even over your DOS applications, at the specified time setting from
the NORTON DESKTOP configuration from the Sleeper mode.

You can install the DOS RAZZLE DAZZLE programs in Windows-95 using the SETUP
program only. It is extremely rare that users will encounter a need for the
RAZDAZ DOS INSTALL features on a Win95 computer. If you've installed Razzle
Dazzle under DOS before installing Windows-95 then run RAZDAZ DOS INSTALL
again and select the UNINSTALL option.
