--- WINDOWS 95 PLUG-AND-PLAY INSTALLATION ---

1) Install your tablet hardware. If it has a power switch, turn it on.

2) Turn on your computer, Windows 95 will start.

3) Insert the backup copy of your WACOM software diskette in a floppy drive.
If the New Hardware Found dialog box appears as Windows 95 starts up, go
to step 4. If not, skip to step 6.

4) Select the option 'Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer.'
    Press Enter.

5) Type the drive name (for example, A:\) and press Enter. Follow the
instructions that appear. Skip to step 7.

6) Select Run under the Start button. Type A:\SETUP and click OK. Follow
    the instructions on the screen.

7) Restart Windows to activate your tablet.

IMPORTANT: If you are using a DOS shell under Windows 95 to emulate DOS, do
not install the DOS drivers. The tablet will be able to control
the mouse pointer, in a DOS shell, once the WACOM driver for
           Windows 95 is installed.

The installation program creates a WACOM directory and copies a test utility
program and the appropriate Readme files there.

                    ******************************
                        FEATURES NOT SUPPORTED
                    ******************************

The following features in the WACOM Control Panel are not functional, they
will be available in future releases of the driver. New drivers can be
downloaded from the WACOM BBS, Internet, America Online and CompuServe.

Multi Mode: Allow the use of puck and pen together on the tablet.
ABS, REL Buttons: These menu strip buttons are inactive. The tablet
can be switched to relative mode by setting aspect to
relative in the Scaling Setup window of the WACOM
                      control panel.

                    ******************************
                         KNOWN WINDOWS 95 BUGS
                    ******************************

1) Windows 3.0 Mode is greyed out in the Wacom Control Panel Preferences
Settings. To add Windows 3.0 mode support, edit the 'SYSTEM.INI' and
change the 'mouse.drv' line to read 'mouse.drv=wacpen.drv'. Restart
Windows and check the Windows 3.0 mode box in the Preferences window.

2) If you are leaving your Microsoft Mouse attached, you may no longer be
able to access the extended mouse features from within the Mouse control
panel with Mouse driver v8.2 and above. To access the extended features
of the 9.0 mouse driver, run MOUSEMGR.EXE (you usually have an icon for
Mouse Manager in your Mouse group).

3) To add Pen Services 2.0 support, edit the 'SYSTEM.INI' and add the lines
'OpenDrv16=penwindows' to the [Pen Driver] section, and
'penwindows=penwin.dll' to the [drivers] section. The Windows 95 version
of the file "penwin.dll" must be located in the \SYSTEM subdirectory of
Windows 95. To enable the side switch add "BarrelEvent=1" to the
    registry under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
    CurrentVersion\Pen".

Note: Wintab support must be disabled by adding the line 'LoadLibs16=none'
to the [Pen Driver] section of the 'system.ini' file.

Note: Any pen drivers from Microsoft must be disabled by deleteing the
          "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VPenD\
          StaticVxD" key.

Note: Wacom does not provide Pen Windows 2.0.

Note: Running the WACOM control panel with Pen Services 2.0 will cause
          unprredictable results.

                    ******************************
                     MODIFICATIONS TO WINDOWS 95

SYSTEM.INI file.

Under the [boot] section:
        [boot]
           .
           .
        ;oldmouse=?????

The current mouse driver is copyed to OLDMOUSE.DRV and the name is held in
';oldmouse'. If the mouse driver is replaced by WACPEN.DRV; wacpen will
load the oldmouse driver.

Under the [drivers] section:
        [drivers]
            .
            .
        pen=wacom.drv

Setup adds a new section to your SYSTEM.INI file called [Pen Driver].

Under the [Pen Driver] section:
        [Pen Driver]
        ComPort=1
        9600baud=1

registry file.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wac
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WACOM.Settings
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\WACOM
HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Wacom\Eraser

The Plug-and-Play install adds all the above except:

The registry enteries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\WACOM

And it also adds:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\SERENUM\{tablet id}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\PEN

--- WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS AFTER ---
--- INSTALLING THE WACOM DRIVER FOR WINDOWS ---

When the Windows setup program is run, your current SYSTEM.INI file is copied
to a backup file named SYSWAC.000. The filename increments each time an
install is performed. In the event that after installation Windows 95 fails
to start, from your Windows directory (C:\WINDOWS) type 'copy SYSWAC.???
SYSTEM.INI'. Your settings before you ran setup will be restored and Windows
should work as it did before the install. If you have any problems with
installation please refer to the troubleshooting section in the manual.
