General Tips
------------

While in Windows '95, if the game is already running, and you open the CD
drive and close it again, the "autorun" program will run again, so there will
be two instances of the program running at one time. Therefore, you should
NOT remove the CD while the game is running.

If you have any trouble installing and/or running Power F1 from Windows '95,
"Restart the computer in MS-DOS Mode" and install the game in accordance with
the DOS installation instructions.

In order to get the network games working properly, all players must be in
the same operating system, DOS or Windows 95, NOT a mixture of the two.

Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------

Q1)
Q. Power F1 does not Auto Select my Sound Card. What do I do?

A. There are some sound cards and system specs which make it
impossible for us to detect your sound card. In these cases you will
have to manually select your card. Select the option to
"Manually Select Card". If you are not sure what to select for the
DMA and IRQ settings, there are a number of ways to find out:
   i. From Windows '95, click on the Start Button and select "Settings",
then "Control Panel", then select the "System" icon. Select the
"Device Manager" tab and double click on the word "Computer" (the top
item on the list). From here you can see what your DMA and IRQ settings
are for your sound card. Do not change any of the settings. Select
CANCEL from the windows you have opened and close the Control Panel.
ii. From the DOS prompt, type SET. If your sound card is Sound Blaster
compatible there should be a system variable called BLASTER.
	This will show your settings.
iii. If neither of these methods are suitable, there should be a program
supplied with your Sound Card which allows you to see what your
	settings are.

Q2)
Q. How can I re-install Power F1?

A. In order to re-install the game, there are two things you will need to
delete from your hard drive - the file "powf1loc.bat" in your windows
directory and the entire directory where you installed the game
(by default c:\powerf1). Make sure you delete the "powf1loc.bat"
file, otherwise you will not be able to re-install the game.

Q3)
Q. I don't use AUTOPLAY. What is the correct way to run the game ?

A. In the directory where you have installed the game (by default
C:\powerf1), we have created a Windows ShortCut named "Autorun".
By double clicking on this, the game will run.

Another easy way to start the game: with the CD inserted, from the
desktop, double click on My Computer, then double click on Power F1,
pictured with a graphic of a miniature F1 car.

If you would prefer to be able to start Power F1 from the Start
Button menu (assuming you are not using AutoPlay) then please
	follow the following steps:

Stage 1: Click on the "Start" Button. Select "Settings", select
"Taskbar". Select the "Start Menu Programs" tab. Select "Advanced".
Single-click on the "+" sign next to the word "Programs". This
should now display a list of Folders. Single-click on the folder
from which you wish to launch Power F1, for example "Games".

Stage 2: We now need to locate the ShortCut on your Hard Drive.
Using the Microsoft Explorer, single-click on the directory
where you installed Power F1 (by default C:\powerf1).
In here you will find the Power F1 Shortcut, named "Autorun".
Simply Drag it from the directory you installed the game, to the
Folder you selected in Stage 1.

Q4)
Q. How do I stop my Windows ScreenSaver from starting ?

A. Having installed Power F1 to your Hard Drive you should start the
game in one of three ways:
-by using the AutoPlay feature, ie. just inserting the CD
-running "Autorun" from your install directory (by default C:\powerf1)
-opening My Computer, and double clicking on Power F1 (w/CD inserted)

Q5)
Q. When trying to run the game, an error comes up "No VESA driver found".
	What should I do?

A. **Power F1 requires a VESA compliant graphics card in order to function
correctly**. Most modern graphics cards either support the VESA
standard via built-in software or by using a specific driver which must
be loaded before running Power F1.

If your Video card is not VESA compliant, the Universal VESA driver
(in the UNIVESA directory) might allow Power F1 to work. The
UNIVESA.EXE program will need to be run each time before you play
	Power F1.

There are VESA drivers available for specific graphics cards in the
VESA directory on the CD. Contact your graphics card manufacturer for
the latest drivers if you are unable to solve this problem.

Q6)
Q. How can I get the CD audio while running the game?

A. In order to hear the CD music while running the game, you must fully
install the game by selecting "2) DOS Full Install". The game will
work properly in WIN 95, but you might not get the in-game sound
effects. If you have fully installed the game, you may turn the
CD Audio on and off by editing the file "f1.cfg", and changing the
	variable "CDAudio=on/off".

Q7)
Q. The sound doesn't play properly and/or the graphics are corrupted
during the video clips. How can I fix this?

A. On slower machines, the video clips (smacks), such as the driver
banging his head into the steering wheel, will not play properly.
You can fix this by either turning the audio off for the smacks
(smacksaudio=off), or by turning off the smacks altogether
(playsmacks=off). You will need to open the file "f1.cfg", and
remove the ';' before the option you wish to include in your
configuration (smacksaudio=off or playsmacks=off), then save the file.
