Fireball

Concept: To create a fireball for cool outerspace nebulas and galaxy explosions.

Key Points: This texture is good for static images like far off explosions, or for things like nebulas or planets that have gone off the edge and exploded to bits.  Simple to use.

Controls: The coolest function to adjust is the Noise functions.  The closer to 1 the more squiggly it looks, sort of like the surface of the sun.  While the close to 0 the smoother it looks more like an explosion from far off.  You can change the filter values to create even odder looks.

The axis of the texture controls the size of the fireball, you can make it small and grow big for a simple explosion or you can make the axis static while changing the noise function, this creates the sun.  The color values can also be morphed from one state to the next so you could start with a HOT explosion (reds) to a cool explosion (blues).
